Rockets have been offered a 1st round pick for Thomas Robinson (UPDATE: So much for "imminent")

That's the only thing that makes sense.

If the Rockets are considering the deal, it would likely be contingent on that -- that a certain international player that they know won't play next year is available at that spot.

    Adetokunbo? Let the speculation begin.

If the pick is like the 30th overall, the cap hit would be small-- just $350k over the cost of the $500k roster charge, which is the cost of a rookie FA. It is much smaller than the cap hit of Robinsin's contract ($3M more than the roster charge).

Still, I was under the impression that HOU has no room to spare at all, where even $350K matters.

Robinsons contract is going to be around 3.5 mill and a late round rookie should barley be over a mill a year right? It should be at least 2 mill in savings

seems like this would force us to overdraft a euro-stash that could possibly be had in 2nd round.

wouldn't maybe 2 2nd rounders with non-guaranteed money, or a future 1st rounder be more prudent?

Probably not likely if reports are accurate that Giannis won't be falling past the Hawks at #18. Unless some team is actually willing to part with a mid-first for Robinson.

That Greek SF has potential, future backup to Parsons and insurance if Parsons ask for alot of money in the future.

Guys, if the Rockets select a Euro stash player and tell the league that they will not bring over that player this year than the cap hold is removed. So if a euro stash is selected then it's the full Robinson contract that you save.

I REALLY hope they get to select Nogueira.

In case anyone wonders how an Euro-stash works cap-wise:

So, there needs to be an agreement in writing. I wonder if another team can screw HOU by selecting the player(s) who would do this. Are there many of these guys out there?

I think it's the Atlantic's 18th draft, we can pick the Russian shooter
