I can confirm league wide interest is zero.

CP3's cap hold is a little under 37 mil, 150% of his 24.59 mil salary.
Capela's cap hold is a little under 6 mil, 250% of his 2.33 mil salary.
Ariza's 11.1 mil cap hold gets renounced.

They will be right at the cap.

How can we know this if the rockets are "quietly" gauging interest?

Honestly if they can't trade him by the deadline, I'd think about keeping him. His $20 mil expiring contract would be extremely valuable in 2019-20.

They are not renouncing Ariza (it doesn't save them anything) but that still doesn't matter or change the facts. FA LBJ to Houston just doesn't work. The Rockets and LBJ don't want him joining with the team stripped down to fit him in. The Rockets, if LBJ comes here, will work out a trade that includes the contracts from an Anderson trade and some pieces from the Rockets. It will depend on how many 1s get used in trading Anderson but the package will be about 28.5M in salaries that probably includes Tucker or EGo plus $20M and picks. After that the Rockets have Bird rights on everybody except Luc who they can resign with the taxpayer MLE. The Rockets threat in FA is really only LBJ signing for the taxpayer MLE. The Rockets are trying to complete the Anderson trade first so there are no delays. The players they get back become expiring after this year and can be traded for 2nd round picks if need be without taking anything back. That is the threat, not what the Rockets will do. Right now Ryno is the impediment.

    For the 10,000,000,000th Time.

We aren’t trading Ryan Anderson for expiring deals. The Rockets will be operating above the cap and will need salary to send out for a Lebron trade.

The easiest and undoubtedly the Avenue to get Lebron is going to be through “opt in”. We cannot trade for him if we do not have Anderson’s $20 mil on the books or other contracts that we traded for with atleast a year left on them to make the trades work.

Also Ariza isn’t going anywhere, not this year or in the future.

Meaning the Rockets most likly won’t be making any big deals this year.

Amiright @BimaThug. Back me up man.

You don't need sources to know that Rockets want to dump Ryan Anderson.

It would be more of a news if sources said, "Rockets trying to keep Ryan Anderson"

I never even mentioned Lebron. Has anyone asked themselves if Tillman Fertitta wants to pay the luxury tax for Ryan Anderson?

He isn’t paying the tax now... Ryan could be moved next year easier than he can now anyways, so the question is kind of obsolete.

He isn't paying the luxury now because CP3 makes 24 mil and Capela makes 2 mil

So, basically the Rockets are doing the same thing they've been doing everyday since last summer. Hoping that some team slips up and agrees to a trade. I'm sure they call Sacramento at least twice a day.

Cavs are already trying to dump bad contracts, I'm sure they would rather let Lebron walk than take on Anderson's just for some late draft compensation. I can't see the Rockets using Anderson in a Lebron deal. Gordon+Ariza+Tucker+picks could make more sense IF Lebron opts in to his final year and requests a trade to Houston.

I am thinking that we will pay somebody to take his contract. So really what is the point of off loading him. He just was advertised in the offense, with eg, and ariza not playing. So he got there touches, so this means he is not needed? and they need more rebounding i assume. Guess there looking for rebounding big men i would suggest. So we are swaping with someone who needs scoring. You would think speights and biyambo would be perfect deal. Needs some more big bodies against gsw.

The Rockets need to have enough in 2018-19 salary to use in an opt-in-and-trade. However, it doesn't HAVE to be Anderson's salary. But a hypothetical trade of Anderson for ONLY expirings would make a LeBron opt-in-and-trade exceedingly more difficult. (It would basically have to be a 6-for-1 deal involving every single Rocket under contract besides Harden and Anderson.)

This isn't about being right, it's just the rules. The Rockets will be in the tax next year regardless and the team is targeting LBJ and has done everything possible to rid themselves of Anderson. Your argument was that the Rockets can create space by trading Ryno. They can't.

Of course they’ll keep him - nothing to think about; they won’t cut him that’s for sure.
