As we continue this push for the Playoffs, games are going to become crucial. Each and every win or loss could easily be the deciding factor to whether we make the playoffs or fall inches short for a consecutive time. Below are a list of team we are currently chasing and their respective records PHX 30-27 POR 33-26 UTH 32-28 DEN 34-26 MEM 33-28 If each team above continues a trend for the remainder of the season of beating the teams with a lower win percentage than them and losing to the teams with a better win percentage than them (excluding any Houston games) Their records would look like this PHX 42-30 -PHX has to play Houston twice POR 44-37 -POR has to Play Houston once UTH 44-37 -UTH has to play Houston once DEN 46-36 - N/A MEM 41-41 -N/A HOU 39-39 -Not including Phx,Por,Uth games Houston has 4 games against Teams we are chasing. If Houston would win each of these games the bottom of the playoff picture would look like this 1.SAS 2.MAV 3.LAL 4.OKC 5.NOR 6.DEN -46-36 7.POR -44-38 8.UTH -44-38 9.HOU -43-39 MEM -41-41 Now of course this is just based on the probability that these teams will win/lose the games they are considered supposed to lose. But it does give a good ideal of how much we would have to battle to make the playoffs. I believe we can do it. All we have to do is win a couple of games that we are not supposed to and win most of the games we are supposed to. Another good thing about this scenario is that we all know Denver is not as good as they used to be with Melo and Co so we can expect them to lose a few more games than I calculated with this Scenario, as well as Utah.
Yeah i feel sort of like you do, I wished we could of made some moves earlier, instead of everyone waiting on the Carmelo trade but i do think our chances our better than they were last year at this time
We got a decent to solid pick in Patterson, not great. It's not likely Rockets get a good pick at 14 in this years draft, but stranger things have happened.
If we beat Portland tomorrow, it's on. That's a huge game for us. Don't we have a 5-game home stretch in March or April? That will help, too. I'd love for this group to go to the playoffs. They've got nothing to lose. When you give up Shane for a current scrub, somethings' gotta give. He may amount to something one day, but we'll be waiting for awhile.
Not if both the Suns and the Grizzlies make the playoffs. Then we are looking at consecutive mid-1st round picks that can be used to move up. i'm not a "tanker" advocate though. I wanna win every single game.
There is rarely a time when tanking actually makes a difference. I can think of 2 times in recent memory where the #1 pick was head and shoulders above the rest, Tim Duncan and Blake Griffin. I would have advocated tanking for either. And unless you're near the top 5 picks there is really no point in tanking. The Rockets aren't going to get anything better at this point by tanking. I'm of the opinion that the Rockets new-found chemistry is going to take them to the playoffs. I think they will take care of the games they should win and win some where they are underdogs. It will take 44 or 45 wins, but I think they can do it.
not going to re-post here there is already another thread on it http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5986336&postcount=19 but i think the Rockets make it in by virtue of a tie breaker
