"Vinny, i regret letting McHale go, you remind me of him a lot the way i used to control him....in short, YOUR HIRED!"
I would think this would be more of a "practice interview". FOr both sides, you know? This makes Del Negro looks like he's wanted, Morey looks like he's throwing his net wide and tells Vinnie it was good to see him again, they each get back to regular business.
We could try an Actor, like Hackman or DiCaprio. I mean who cares right, as long as they tell them the right thing to do and they do it.
Hahaha this wouldn't surprise me if it happened. It would disappoint the hell out of me though. This is sort of like when we could have hired a few different guys but nabbed McHale.
so..we will interview every ex coach? Sam Mitchell and Byron Scott are available too. Go get em Morey.
Nah...i can't believe this, i won't believe this. This is just a rumor made by the Kings cause they don't want to feel embarassed in being the only team after Vinny.
i also think Del Negro is a crappy coach but no way McHale was a bottom five all time NBA coach, and no way is JBB a top five worst interim coach. JBB was over .500 and there have been many many worse coaches than McHale. 260 coaches have worse winning percentages than McHale. i know sophistry is kind of your thing but it's never too late to make better use of your intelligence
Gene Hackman isn't a bad idea. We all say what he did with that Hickory High team. But i fear his best coaching days are behind him.
It is Les Alexander. This is what the Rockets have always done. They are going to talk to EVERYONE, including mongloids like Vinny Del Negro and Tyrone Corbin. This also will probably drag out for awhile. Alexander and Morey will have 6-12 hour interviews grilling candidates and then have a handful out for a second interview and possibly a third.
I have no problem for the FO to do due diligence. I think they aren't going to decide on the coach before they have some idea whether they are going to land Durant. Coaching choices might be part of the FA negotiation. So since they still have plenty of time before the FA market starts, they might as well get as much info as they can. (Didn't they also interviewed a whole bunch of people before they decided on McHale?) But this is the thing. Coach hiring is similar to FA signing. The longer you wait, the fewer choices you are going to get.
