Maybe Lin needs to be shown that stat/film of some of his crazy getting to the rim games. It's almost like he doesn't remember that he's really good at it.
Dear Lin, When you are driving to the hoop, try to put the ball in the basket, you are good at it. If the lane is congested and you can't get a good shot, keep your dribble alive and look for team mates / dribble out. If at any point you are thinking about picking up your dribble, stop, do not pick up your dribble in the congested area, you are doing something wrong.
Dear YaoMac09, Thank you so much for note. I had completely forgotten that I was good at that. In fact, I completely forgot who I was for awhile. My doctors tell me that the head trauma I have suffered as a result of hard fouls is the culprit for my memory loss. Sincerely, JLin
This has to be wrong. Every radio and tv analyst has told me that the Rockets are a jump shooting team who lives and dies by the three.
1) You don't always take a shot after a drive, and you don't always have to drive to get a shot close to the basket. For the first point, a comparison between Ty Lawson and Evan Turner is a great example. Ty Lawson has 411 drives this season, his FG% on drives is 52,4%. Evan Turner has 251 drives this season, his FG% one drives is 51,3%. Despite driving way less and a slightly worse FG%, Evan Turner scored more total points on drives (224; Lawson has 223). 2) The definition of a drive that's counted as one in the NBA's Player Tracking Data: "Drives: Any touch that starts at least 20 feet of the hoop and is dribbled within 10 feet of the hoop and excludes fast breaks." John Wall gets 29% of his points on a fastbreak (that boosts his FG% close to the basket a lot), which means that these points are excluded of the driving data, while Curry only gets 19,3% of his point on fastbreaks.
i'm guessing the knee and back injury did more damage then we know. that's the only likely and rational explanation. he's had great games too after becoming the starter, just not as consistent as he was before bev got injured. let's not forget he played 43 minutes in one game shortly after coming back. he looks a step slow.
Well, not exactly 3rd, but not far from that. The cutoff by playing time and the way the graph starts at a certain level of drives per game cause some slight bias. Right now he is actually 14th, if you include players with at least 10 games and at least 2 drives per game. If you set the bar at 3 drives per game - He is 9th in the league in %. (SEE HERE) Pretty impressive anyway!
Dwight 100% on 3s (2/2) this season is a good example to have minimum requirements. But you knew that already anyway you just want to point out the whole picture.
I played around with the tool from the opening post, the result is below. The tables show how many points the most frequent drivers in the NBA (>5 drives per game) generate per drive, for themselves and their teammates. LeBron should be in a league of his own . He seems to have lost some passion for bball. I mean he still gives it 100% but the determination doesn't seem to be there . I think one of the misses was a half-court buzzer beater attempt, so he should be 50% .
