I feel the same way brother. It's impossible for them to sign a superstar free agent. The Rockets will never win a championship until they pick up a lottery player. Morey loves picking up late draft picks that will never be superstars.
Lets look at the top teams and their key player: Laker: Kobe - lottery pick nuggets: anthony lottery pick magic: dwight - lottery pick cavs - lebron lottery pick Unless you can get a high lottery pick or two the chances of being great aren't good.
No...I would intergrated McGrady after the original 7 or 8 games of 7 minutes. See what this team can do with McGrady....as he improves. Ariza is nothing more than another role player who needs a better player to feed off of.
And what team is going to trade for McGrady? Knicks? Eddie Curry...HELL NO....Don't care what u get with him. Every team is going to give u crap and bad contracts in return. You are better off keep McGrady and letting him expire. If you going to keep him...play him. This team is not winning a championship this year.......lets get McGrady one last time to see if he can help.
The Rockets were 1-2 losses away from getting Brandon Roy. They have their opportunities. They have another one this year, if they play it right.
The Rockets are already far above average. Yao is coming back to add size and tmac will be off the books. We have a great coach, and a great gm. What I've noticed lately is we have a bunch of below average fans.
Please look at every end of season Rockets roster and compare it to some of their competition in the West and indeed they were average at best beyond Yao. Utah had better talent both times and so did Dallas. What he said was true, the problem is people didn't want to admit it. People who wanted him to stay were categorized as being blind or whatever. People that want to ignore the reality of our team being average supposedly are true Rockets fans. Nice.

I agree. It's totally silly of Morey to look only at the short term. He definitely prefers drafting in the 20s or later. When the Rockets had a lottery pick, he advised Les Alexander to trade it away for a moneyball player, Battier.
The Rockets are good enough to make the playoffs and they have no intention of tanking to get a higher pick. Morey already said that.
Next year, you can add the Utah Jazz. Thanks to a GM with foresight, he traded for NY's draft pick. It will be an unprotected lottery pick for the Jazz.
