I think that they need one solid vet to add to the House, RoCo, PJ forward rotation. If they could get a Luc type of player in the offseason then I think that they would be set. I had hopes that Carroll could be that player but idk if that will come to fruition.

I liked Cam last summer. He’s a very intriguing player and shot the ball really well for the summer league team.

    Projected revenues loss 40%
    CBA tax line rule 53%
Luxury Tax line at 90 million
Players pay cut 20% team salary at 104 million

Gordon salary dump trade is needed if Tilman don’t pay tax.
    Or
    Trade Covington.AND Tucker for picks.

The OP (and I agree) we need some help up front but not a true center. Tilman is going to have to pay because of Gordon’s new contract. There is nothing to help make the trade partner say yes. We have used ALL assets like kids in a candy store after they received their very first allowance. The new question is how much tax is he willing to pay. I think we will pay as little as possible. That is way we should “churn” the g league to find a fit. Churn meaning picking up and quickly dropping if doesn’t fit then doing the same till we find what we are looking for. We don’t NEED / WANT an other all star. We have to have a positive impact role player that fills in the needs of our team and a coach that is willing to develop youth and be flexible along the way. The player we are looking for in not a complete 5 star talent but is effective in what he’s asked to do to help the team win.

The Gordon solution is not part of this tread.

    Liked him too.

But has he improved defensively? That was knock on him coming out.

D’Antoni won’t play them and Tillman doesn’t want to add payroll to 19/20 season....or maybe you get your way.

Bruno got some burn time last season with Grizz (34 games/25 mins/8 pts), not much before we traded for him this year. His numbers are comparable to Bolden this year. Notice no burn time for Bruno with
    D’Antoni.

One project at that position plus Hartenstein are probably enough for Tillman this season. In the off-season he can be added to compete for a spot with Bruno (if re-signed)

You could be right about Tilman/MDA, especially if remainder of regular season only 10 games.

But my point that Rockets defense suffers heavily when either (or both) PJ and RoCo are off floor is inarguable. House, Green, Thabo and even Demarre are either not consistent or lack the tools.

I like Bruno too but even his skillset for defense does not substitute for what PJ or Covington provide.

Rockets need big strong long physical with agility/foot speed and nasty attitude to replace either Tucker or RoCo when either are sitting. Just 15-20 minutes a game.

I am a Bruno fan, he is long (6'9) with 7'7 wingspan but his BBIQ, physicality and aggression still need honing, perhaps in offseason.

Rockets probably prioritizing how are they going to retain Bruno this offseason.....plus Jeff Green, ?D Carroll?
extension of Tucker. Thabo and Tyson are probably gone......then add on’s per your liking. At the right price (cheap).

Rockets should be focused on winning a ring.

All that other stuff is for next season.

Anderson and Bolden won’t get on the floor with D’Antoni......like Bruno.....like House last year. How exactly do they help win a ring this season (assuming the season resumes)? By being bench cheerleaders?

    Injuries happen.

And guys like Harty, Tyson and Clemons will not see any time no matter what happens this season because these players just do not fit current team.

I can't see Anderson or Bolden seeing the light of day either. I see Anderson as I saw RJ Hunter and Bolden as Bruno. Put the numbers of Bruno in 3o-something games with Grizz last season to Bolden.

    But you know better.

I have no idea. He has a Greg Smith body type (but with a shot) so I can see him having trouble defending out on the perimeter. Do you know if he was picked up by a G League team?

cont from my post #33 above.

Here are RJ Hunter, Anderson, Bruno, Bolden numbers per
basketball-reference.com (more or less best season numbers of each individual).
    Per game & 36 mins:

    Player
    Season..............Games............mins................3P%..............TRB....................points
    RJ Hunter

    17/18.....................5 gms............9.0 mins...........21.4%...............1.0.....................3.8 pts
    36-mins.....................................36.0 mins...........21.4%...............4.0...................15.2 pts

    Justin Anderson
    18/19.....................48 gms...........9.6 mins.............31.2%..............1.8.....................3.7 pts
    36-mins.......................................36.0 mins...........31.2%...............6.5...................13.8 pts

    Jonah Bolden
    18/19.....................44 games...........14.5 mins..........35.4%..............3.8....................4.7 pts
    36-mins...........................................36.0 mins..........35.4%..............9.3...................11.7 pts

    Bruno Caboclo
    18/19......................34 games...........23.5 mins..........36.9%..............4.6....................8.3 pts
    36-mins............................................36.0 mins..........36.9%..............7.1...................12.7 pts

Summary: Justin Anderson out weighs Hunter by about 30 pounds and is an inch taller; but not too many of us
    would want a possibly better
Hunter on this current Rockets team, so I’m not sure Anderson is worthy either.

Bolden may be a better mid-range shooter than Bruno; but the Rockets don’t want players shooting mid-range.
Only Westbrook/Harden/Eric Gordon get away with it on any consistency. Me personally, i believe Bruno
is a better defender of small quick point guards. I’m not sure Bolden can cut it out on the perimeter vs playoff
    quality guards.

GSW’ and Rockets we’re struggling with injuries last season and ultimately went with 7 man rotations. Healthy
D House and Faried were not used by D’Antoni......can’t see D’Antoni having more faith in Bolden/Anderson.

D’Antoni will go with Harty and D Carroll over those other options, imo.

I give you the last word @D-rock

RJ Hunter and Justin Anderson may share similar height but their size athleticism and way they play have very few similarities.

Anderson is an uber run-jump athlete who plays nasty physical defense on perimeter & above the rim at Tucker/Harden's height (6'5 to 6'6) weight (240 lbs) and similar 7 foot wingspan.

RJ Hunter is below average athlete at 6'4 or 6'5 and 185 lbs sopping wet. He uses positioning and BB IQ more so than athleticism and physicality on defense.

Hunter was also known as a 3 ball specialist and finesse offense player coming out of college but in pros struggles to create his own shots.

These 2 players not similar at all in my opinion regardless of stats, Hunter more combo guard while Anderson is clearly a 3-4.

Bolden and Bruno are both long lanky forwards with great wingspans but Bolden plays with more physicality, more aggression and evinces better BB IQ on defense. Bolden plays with more confidence and clearly better defensive playmaker.

Bolden switches onto guards better than Bruno.

MDA knows Bruno can rim run and shoot 3's but it's his ability to switch everything that he is still evaluating.

I disagree, Hunter is the more swifter, mobile athletic of the two, while Anderson has gained much weight which only
helps in a form of Eric Gordon type bully offense. Problem is with Harden-Westbrook-Eric Gordon.....there is
no need for Anderson. Not enough basketballs, especially since D’Antoni likes Austin Rivers penetrating as well.

Neither Hunter nor Anderson have shown to be proficient enough from spot up 3 to be a part of this Rockets team.

We shall agree that we disagree.

I see him ok as help defender, but that’s not his defense that I’m worried about in the playoffs. It’s the switching
defense which pits a shifty CP3 or Mike Conley pit one on one and they reset and get a running start at him. Bolden
drawn out to the perimeter is Bar-B-Que chicken. Much like Gobert out on the perimeter. This is why they like
Bruno because he shows an ability to guard 1-5. When the 1 breaks him down, he can recover not only because
of long wing span, but because he can turn his hips better.

Show me clips against swifter American pros. Not as help defender either. Show me vs Steph on the
perimeter on an island. CP3. Conley. Dragic. Lowry. Etc. they all will get him in foul trouble overplaying
the backtracking to the rim with erky werky hesitation and head fakes. We both agreed Bolden is a
project.....but it seems you keep pushing him as ready now.

    Far from it

Edited: here is Bruno looking fantastic as a help defender backtrack rim protector like Bolden. Only Bruno
is doing it vs NBA players.

Highlight videos may not tell the whole story.
