I'd love to go back to the days where 50 year old fat men were not taking selfies kissing at boys on their iPads

    Pls

Whoa....Morey made him drop the March 1st date for Nets-style bonus back in?

Nope. They could have had this all along. Morey was offering 1 year 8 million which would have made him a free agent next year.

He's basically getting the same deal. This was a dumb standoff. We all lose.

Rockets have a deal with Motiejunas, source said. Guarantee only first year. Opt out is in mid-July, rather than March 1, per source. - Jonathan Feigen

Motiejunas will make $8.3M this season -- and Houston will own a team option in each July of next three seasons, sources said. - Adrian Wojnarowski

So basically he did all this for $1 million extra a year and a little more of the first year guaranteed? Was it really worth all that?

Wow, DMO and BJ got wrecked in this.

Perfectly played by Morey, but that was expected.

    And LOL @ Joatmac

This is the biggest point. This is more important than the money or years or physical or anything.
[caveat: assuming that it is of course non-guaranteed years in the future similar to original Nets deal].

The question remains what is the cut-off date for guaranteeing year 2? Still March 1st being on the roster, or pushed back to July. If pushed back to July, and tradeable in 3 months without his consent, winner winner, chicken dinner.

Team option in each July of next 3 seasons is even better than the Brooklyn deal. Great job Morey!

Sounds like the Rockets won this standoff. They can now trade D-Mo without his approval. That's huge(of course, he still has to pass the other team's physical).

@WojVerticalNBA: Bonuses could make the Motiejunas deal worth as much as $37M over life of the deal, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Motiejunas deal with Rockets worth $31 million if hits no bonuses, $35m if hits all likely bonuses and $37m if hits every possible bonus. - Jonathan Feigen

In exchange for upping the value of the deal from $31M to $35M, Houston gets to move Motiejunas' guarantee date for next season to mid-July - Marc Stein
