If we have Motiejunas starting next to Asik, that's going to be pretty fun to watch. When was the last time the Rockets had two 7-footers on the floor simultaneously 30+ minutes per game? It's also neat that they complement each other so well. Motiejunas is an offense-first big who can do everything Asik can't, and vice versa is true as well. Furthermore, both of these guys should be very good fits in an offense running through Jeremy Lin. I see big seasons coming from all three if they can stay healthy.
He is strong and has a nice good weight on him. He won't be getting dominated in the paint too much. Would like to see more offense out of him.
I will find this ironic that Lin was biggest news of the free-agency, but Omer might be one that will have the biggest impact. We kind of skrewed the Bulls, at least they have class in accepting it. Lin is a perfect match for Omer and imperfect match to Melo.
finally gone are the days when we have a 6'6 center starting for us (no offense Chuck Hayes), I just hope that Asik is worth every penny the rockets is paying him!... Finally a legit 7'0 startng center after the Yao era
I've been educating and debating foo's at least since we signed him to the offer sheet.. Asik will be arguably or the best move of the entire offseason, Howard
I think Asik will be the bigger impact as well. He will give the Rockets a consistent defensive presence and help the Rockets get into a transition offense. If the Rockets can get their defensive rotations down, teams without a good offense are going to struggle against the Rockets.
If you recall, Morey was at Asik's doorstep at 12.01 when free agency began. Not Lin's. And he offered Lin's 3-year contract to Asik first, while only offering Lin a 4-year less-poisonous contract
Well at that point the Rockets had two starting caliber point guards still on the roster... and big men usually get a lot more money than point guards.
This team isn't getting an 8th seed at all. Asik is nice as I knew he would be I have been calling that from the beginning.
Carl, I give you props for leading the "Sign Asik" campaign for the past two years. Looks like you might have been onto something. Good job.
I'm not sure Asik will be the MOST valuable offseason addition in terms of play. But he definitely will be the most valuable offseason addition in terms of great people to impersonate. Have you heard him talk?!
