Would be a great addition. Could fill the backup C spot if Deke and/or Dorsey fall through. Sure he's 5'9 but don't be fooled, he plays much bigger than he is. Just what we need.
No disrespect, but I would rather see Francis practice and play in the preseason then take your word for it that he's "done". As for what the organization is doing, it's call insurance.
excuse me????? THIS is the best you got in response to my general statement responding to what I see said by a few fans around here that aint got a damn clue about actually running a team? Take my advice rookie....go away till you can come up with better arguments that DONT involve insulting the person you are talking to. You fail miserably at basketball debate, may god have mercy on your soul.
was that back in 2004 or 2005 when Tmac really made a push to get him and he turned his back on the rox and mac?
http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/p...n=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=6.1.1 HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets would like to add free agent point guard Damon Stoudamire to their roster and the 13-year veteran told FOX 26 Sports Thursday he believes it would be a great fit. "I am interested in the Rockets, if they are interested in me," Stoudamire said. The Rockets are definitely interested. "He's somebody who we still think can help a team," said Daryl Morey, Rockets General Manager. "Right at this point he'd have a shot to make the team if he comes into training camp. "His representation is still thinking about what's the best opportunity for him which is the right thing for them." Stoudamire, who split time last year with Memphis and San Antonio, has made Houston his offseason home since 2004. He is ready for his NBA career to continue in his adopted home town. "If that bridge can be crossed, me coming to Houston and playing for the Rockets, that's something I would love to entertain," Stoudamire said. During his NBA career Stoudamire has played for Toronto, Portland, Memphis, and San Antonio. "I am not looking to go just anywhere," Stoudamire said. "I want a chance to win a ring and a chance to be a contributor. "I still feel I have something left in the tank" In 13 years Stoudamire has averaged 13.4 points and 6.1 assists a game.
I guess the poster who replied to my earlier post was right... the writing is indeed on the wall for Steve.. Management feels that at best his contribution to the team will be marginal to none.. if they're seriously considering a slow and elderly midget as someone who "has a shot" to make the team... either that.. or they are completely clueless to his situation post-surgery.. which seems unlikely.. Alston, Damon, Brooks.. depressing..
Damon and his agent will obviously be looking for a guaranteed contract. DM probably won't do that. If Damon is forced to participate in a training camp,I could see him getting a chance to prove himself in front of our management based on this latest information. I just don't see if he can provide anything of note anymore.
Could this be a ploy to pressure Landry into signing with the Rockets? If the Rockets are serious about signing him, then Francis is probably done.
