Nick Johnson and Clint Capela won't be cut to stash in the D league. There is no way they would pass through waivers.

 

Yea I phrased that wrong. What I meant to say was Capela and Johnson will be 2 of the 3 roster spots on the Vipers that can be brought up to the Rockets.

 

D-league allocations and D-league assignments are counted separately. For example, last season the Rockets had 2 players assigned (Canaan, Covington) and 3 players allocated (Troy Daniels, BJ Young, and Jordan Henriquez).

There is 0% chance we cut either N Johnson or Capela from the 15 man rotation. Yes, they will play D League, but as part of our 15.

My guess is that the Rockets suspect the Lakers will likely use their affiliate rights on 3 different players.

 

All three of those guys will be on the 15 man roster. Johnson and Capela will spend time in the D-league.

Grizzlies then. Either that or affiliate rights go with waiver claim which would explain why Rockets are waiting until Monday before cutting guys they want to keep affiliate rights.

 

by the looks of it, you guys may be onto something. earlier this month the grizz cut hancock (undrafted) which brought the grizz roster down to 18 and im assuming the intention was a dleague stash.

now we only need 2 out of the last 3 cuts to be for the dleague and he will be a viper
