Basically there are so many signs pointing to the Houston Rockets winning an NBA Championship that I am sure that the current set of Rockets will win an NBA Championship in the next 3 seasons.

It may not happen this Year b/c of Yao but if he can stay healthy for an entire season we will win a championship.

    Here is why:

    1) We had a 22 game winning streak and as everyone knows only championship quality teams can have 22 game winning streaks. No one buys that the Rockets are Championship team because of our Postseason fups. But the Laker of 72 hadn't won a championship before 33 gm streak, same for the Lakers of 99. THE STREAK is 90% of WHY I BELEIVE.

    2) Carl Landry. Guys this guys is basically an Elton Brand clone. I mean he is currently our most productive player per min. HE SHOULD BE STARTING. He needs to get 30+ min/gm.

    Production Roland
Own Opp Net On Off Net Rating
    Landry 26.4 15.7 +10.6 +8.0 +3.9 +4.1 +8.0
    Yao 25.5 14.5 +10.9 +4.5 +4.6 -0.1 +6.5
    McGrady 21.8 13.1 +8.6 +5.1 +3.6 +1.6 +5.8

By next year, Landry will be better than McGrady IMO. He will be our 2nd scorer. With TMAC being our third scorer/creator. He is just better than Scola.

    3) The Rockets currently are so deep, we are cutting/giving away guys who can play. I mean Kirk Snyder can friggin really play and we just gave him away.

    4) Morey. This guys obviously knows what he is doing. So far no missteps. The guys looks like he can draft better than CD, he gets players who play hard, he finds guys out of nowhere who are winners.

    5) TMAC. I mean for all the crap he takes. He is the smartest star player that isn't a point guard. He makes the right play. His shot is the only thing holding him back. Personally, I think he has a much better basketball IQ than Kobe, Lebraun and KG. When he BUSTS thru the 1ST round of the playoffs, I THINK IT WILL BE LIKE THE STREAK unstoppable.

Again, I wish we get out of the 1st round this year but I won't sweat it because I beleive we will win it all next year anyway.

Landry is not close to Elton Brand, and EB has a way way WAY better midrange game and is a much better defender and shotblocker. Bad comparison. Basically this guy is a Stromile Swift with brains. Which is very good, but not Elton Brand.

I think he is slightly better than Stromile Swift, though.

Landry is Amare without height and Anthony Mason with out the passing and defense.

McGrady's contract expires in 2 years (2010) but hopefully he'll have won a championship or a deep playoff run by then while also staying uninjured. I really do love him as a player so I know he will pull it off. :D

They should win one, because it is pretty wide open right now.....no one is sure thing and they are no dynasty like teams on the horizon.

I'm not answering this thread because I don't want to jinx them.

I agree with everything you said except that part. Landry can't create a shot for himself yet. It's not like he's doing turnaround jumpers over his defenders or driving in from the top post for a dunk. Most of his buckets are set up by other people, e.g. an easy dunk by T-Mac or a jumper by Alston. The others come from offensive rebounds and hustle plays. I don't think he's better than Scola just yet. He isn't as crafty/creative as Scola, and we're going to need that come playoff time when the other team is playing tight D.

although i love Rockets, i have to say unless Yao keeps healthy and T-MAC can keep his aggressive attacks, they won't get one championship. Anyway, I do hope they can win at least one title. God bless them~
