Why is everyone one-starring this thread? This is good news imo, no more distractions heading into training camp and Denver was likely asking for too much if Morey decided to back out. If Melo is still around mid-season when his price tag will drop some then you can expect Houston to get back in the running. For now we're staying pat or look elsewhere for an upgrade.
Why the hell do some people feel like starting a new thread on the dumb subject every day? Are you blind?? Do you not see the Sticky-freakin-thread at the TOP of GARM for 'Melo discussions? You need to make a random pinhead twit a new thread?
Did I even mention his number of steals? No. The experts call him a great defender from watching him play, and I trust their opinion more than I do yours.
It seems as though everyone is out of the Melo sweepstakes. Every second that Denver chooses to hold onto Melo, their leverage decreases. I had a feeling they would be this foolish. They should have taken Favors and ran.
Woj from Yahoo made some great points today on the Jim Rome show. I think Bima also talked about some of this as well. He basically said the trade offers will be more of Denver's liking come the start of the season. He feels that Chicago can be the wildcard if they start off really slow. They might be willing to trade Noah which Denver according to him are really fond of. He said there are too many teams right now that think their team are better than what they really are. Teams will be willing to make a better deal come later. I still think SAC would have been a good team to get involved in the trade. Obviously SAC wouldn't land Melo but they are under the cap and are probably willing to take on salary for draft picks and young talent.
Now you're just being ridiculous. While Shane may be the current "poster boy" of defensive specialists, Iggy's still one of the better man to man defenders in the league. I mean, c'mon, you're acting like he's Jason Kapono.
I've been saying that Morey probably called Denver and made an offer, told them to think about it and call him if they got a better one. When the 4 way deal materialized and it became obvious Denver could get more then what the Rox had to offer, Morey said thanks and good luck to Denver.
The Nuggets will try to make another deal, but IF it doesn't happen by the time Scola is eligible to be traded ......methinks he'll be donning a Nuggets jersey.
Melo isn't coming here at all. Denver doesn't want anything from Houston. If Melo wanted to come here, he would be here.
This report means absolutely nothing to me. We've been underdogs from the start. Saying a fringe contender for Melo is "out of the running....but not entirely" is basically stating the obvious, as far as I'm concerned. Will it happen? Probably not Could it happen? Sure Basically, my expectations have not changed since reading this thread.
