Aldrich, Douglas and either Morris or patterson for Smith and you almost can't say no. With beverley, Douglas is now extremely expendable, so we can now keep Delfino.

Think about it, 2 non rotational players and either pat or morris who are playing terrible for josh smith who, if doesn't work out is expiring anyways...why not? If theres no better options.

Do you think a Smith and Harden combo, as their two best players, can make the Rockets a championship contender?

Smith is a chucker. You don't want that.

Impossible they would take that deal. They are not tanking, remember that. They are probably asking for some good young pieces. They apparently rejected a Pau Gasol for Josh Smith deal recently. And Pau may not have the stats this year, but the guy is still a great player who is being under-utilized. If he does get traded it wil be for a player like Rudy Gay (Who could potentially give the Hawks that go-to scorer.)

Well Harden is a future superstar in 1-2 years, you need another star caliber player to pair with him. Smith can help fix our biggest problem at our weakest position. Offensively, he will get much better looks on his shots due to the double teams Harden demands. What is the Rockets main problem? Defending the rim from dribble penetration. What is Josh Smith strength? Defending the rim from dribble penetration.

We'll thats all i could imagine the rockets offering, maybe with the NYK's 2nd Rd picks as well. With Lou out though, and Smith basically guaranteed gone at the season (small chance 4 playoffs), they'l take what they can get for him. If our package is be out, so be it. The package isn't all bad though, Morris or Patterson - 2 Mill contracts - both under 24, Douglas 26 (EXP) Aldrich 24 (EXP) and a couple of 2nd RD picks is value for a expiring who's causing issues and is guaranteed gone this offseason.

At this stage, I'd take anyone ahead of Ppat and Morris.

Smith would be a great fit for the team.

The problem is his contract is a horrible fit for the team. It's expiring, so even though he claims he'd love to played here what we trade for him could all be lost if he hits the open market and gets overpaid by another team.

That means what we traded for him would be gone and he would too...so if we get Smith we are pretty much overpaying for him either way.

Maybe better (if the team is after Smith) to go after him as a UFA and see what he commands on the market.

he's a perfect athletic guy, he's a crazy blocker but we need some post game and mid jumpers. he doesn't fit this team imho.

This. We need to upgrade both of frontcourt spots to become contenders. A combo of Smith and one of Jefferson or Randolph would do that. Os there any scenario under which we can sign two star FAs?

You can say the same about Harden. I guess you don't want him either.

    Jefferson $14 M
    Z-Bo $15.2 M
    J Smith $12.4 M
    Milsap $8.5 M

So, around $22 to $28 M for upgrades at both spots. Max cap is at $58 M. $45.8 M on the books for 2013-14.

Summer 2013, waive Delfino and they have $14.7 M to use on Jefferson, Milsap or Z-bo.

Patterson and Morris ($5 M) + Asik or Lin ($8 M) pays for Smith.

I think so, if paired with the right role-players around them. I know everybody is trying to recreate a Big 3 scenario, but that doesn't seem likely. The Clippers have CP3 and Griffin, and the rest are just great role-players around them.

Lin, Parsons and Asik all have the chance to develop into very good players as well. Harden is arguably a top 5 player in the league, and Smith is an athletic game-changer, at least on the defensive end.
