    I doubt they go over things on the bus or plane. Usually guys sleep and relax during travel time. Some guys read individual scouting reports.

    I am glad they are doing this

    if you have never suffered from severe anxiety - then you don't realize how bad it is.

    Image that you have to present to a small gathering, you might get a little nervous, but you gut out the butterflies in your stomach. IMage that you have to stand naked in a room full of poisonous snakes. The second situation is how the axienty ridden person views the first situation - it is a real disease and people cannot relate to it because it seems so abnromal to us

    agreed. Part of what makes this a joke is the fact that the grind of the nba includes going to meetings, practice, team lunches,etc and this is the dudes get out of jail free card.

    Players are expected to maintain a schedule and work ethic regardless of condition. You can make changes for folks with disabilities but its more than just the game. He is going to be his own rogue employee coming and going as he pleases. Sometimes I have to go to meetings or do stuff in my work I dont like either. guess what? Its called work.

    This is is a slippery slope to everyone being able to smoke joints instead of practice and all nighters with no shows on a whim. I get it, there is an illness, but part of the job is other elements that he is failing and setting a bad precedence.

    'Why do I have to go to a meeting if royce doesnt?"
    'why do I have to practice if royce doesnt'

    I agree this probably means he is d league since I cant believe rockets would accept this.

    If there is such a need to tutor Royce White during the trip instead of next morning, they can probably just send an assistant coach with him on the bus. There are 4 or 5 of these assistant coaches and it wouldn't kill them to spare one.

    No i still doubt that will happen. There isn't much that he would miss while traveling.

    He is flying several times more than he normally does in college. All he (and his doctors) are asking for is a bus that he could travel in as he integrates the heavy flying schedule into his life.

    The guy has a legitimate illness and is asking for a minor leverage. He isn't asking to skip practice, he is asking if he could travel on the bus on certain trips.

    Somehow people are getting the idea that he wants to skip practice, meetings, games etc.

    Ridiculous.

    Royce is going to be that guy this season.

    The progression since I've been on clutch fans has been: McGrady, Brooks, Battier, Lowry, White.

    Clutch fans will have their whipping boy.

    I don't know if the idea has already been brought up, but I think it would be really cool if the whole team went with him on the bus to certain games. It would show their faith in him and be a true team-building situation.

    Just my 2 cents

    Agreed. Even if not all of them can go but some. But I doubt the NBA would allow it.

    let me start by saying I like you and your posts.

    I've dealt with employees that are 'friends with the owner' or 'cant be at work at 9AM and need to be there after 930' and 'only on tuesdays' etc. It's a slippery slope.

    What I am saying is this is an easy out for ANY obligation that 'he doesn't feel like it'

    leads to exceptions and the inmates running the asylum. Its not good for team and creates a negative opinion from those that do 'have' to go. I hope you are right and I am wrong, but this will not end well.

    I would think the Rockets would look to help Royce White with his anxieties and phobias, and he could get better. That would be a benefit to everyone, and the investment could pay great dividends. A talented hypnotherapist can greatly assist a person with fear of flying and generalized anxieties.

    I just returned from Amsterdam for a training in Ericksonian hypnosis and can note there are some very talented people that have worked with atheltes for specific phobias, anxieties, habits, and performance enhancement , generally. It's not uncommon at all in the game of golf. Visualization techniques also improve shooting.

    In the meantime, it make great sense to accommodate him for his early training schedule. Progress can be measured and developed and they could develop a system for general improvement for the team as a whole.

    I am glad they figured something out. Royce has a lot of potential to be something real special, and helping him deal with his issues will help him greatly in the long-term. We should just be patient with him, and allow him to get through it. It may take a season or two, but eventually he won't need a bus at all.

    He would definitely be bussing it to these games:
    @San Antonio
    @Dallas
    @Oklahoma City
    @New Orleans

    Possibly bus to these games as well, depending on the timing of everything:
    @Phoenix
    @Utah
    @Denver
    @Memphis
