If Dwight really wants to go there and somehow they can convince Deron he will come, he can sign next year and they will have a really good line up of Deron, Johnson, Wallace, Scola, and Howard...

Even with Howard and Williams which is a long shot for the Nets imo, taking draft picks and expirings for Scola is a great move because it gives even more cap flexibility and the Nets are such an awfully ran organization whose to say that they would make the playoffs anyway. They would also be the kind of organization that would give away an unprotected first. Then again they could just give us back our pick that we traded them as well, which would be fine too.

I love Scola but the way we are currently constructed we don't really need him. Getting rid of his contract by itself would be a good move if we can at least get our pick back so we can trade it in a future deal.

If my math is right (I've got the Nets at about $55M now), with the Joe Johnson trade the Nets now are unable to absorb Scola for cap space.

Let's trade Scola to Charlotte for cap relief. I heard they were interested in Antawn Jamison for verteran leadership, anyway.

lol, did you forget a salary cap exists?

They would double the salary cap with that lineup and scrubs on the bench.

Not against shopping Scola, but let's not forget he is the only player on this team with a decent post game. I'd imagine if Scola is getting traded, someone like Gasol is coming back.

Motiejunas and Royce both have advanced post skills.

Good point. Scola is the only guy who can score from the post on our current roster, and with Lowry leaving, who is going to be our leader for next season? I don' get why everyone on this board want him to leave. Yes, though he is a terrible defender and rebounder and his contract is heavy, his experience and spirit cannot be found in any other players potentially we can get in return for him, except Chuck Hayes.

Both are still unproven in the NBA. I doubt either of them can come in and immediately give the production that Scola has.

Very true they are both unproven. But the Rockets have to start developing their young talent at some point.

Not a fit for Coach Dunlap's philosophy. If you see the moves they have made so far, it's about locking down defensively. Whereas Jamison doesn't exactly fit into that category, he's been suggesting that he'd come to CLT to finish out his playing days (suggestion I think was - at a discount) so his family could watch him play out his career. Don't see how Scola fits in those same slots like AJ.
