I don't think you know anything about David Robinson. Dwight is nothing like him at all.

Is Dwight more on a level with, say, Walt Bellamy or Bob Lanier?

Kareem was dominated by Moses Malone in '83. He was already well past his prime at that point. This was a guy who came into the league in 1969 and averaged 29/15 as a rookie. People need to stop using Hakeem's matchups with Kareem to prop him up. That's a joke.

Not at all. Howard is more like Mutombo. Great defense with minimal offense. Mourning wasn't as good as either on defense and had a good 15-18-footer for a big man.

Howard couldn't even conquer Mont. Yao, he got no token to challenge Mont. Olajuwon.

Dwight Howard is nothing but a skilled and talented Kendrick Perkins. Even prime Rony Seikley would hold his own against this guy.

I think Dwight is better than Mutumbo on offense but nothing else.

There's not really a great historical comparison for Dwight. He's as dominant a rebounder as any center in recent memory, and defensively he stacks up with most of the greats. Offensively, there haven't been a lot of guys with his combination of strength/athleticism and complete lack of range. He's almost like Shawn Kemp's explosiveness in Alonzo Mourning's body, but without either player's face-up game.

He's certainly better than Mutombo offensively, though no where close to Robinson. Both are kind of bizarre comparisons.

(asterisk) Kareem was an old fogie and Dream had not yet reached his prime.

Robinson in his prime had a better offensive game.

Robinson could definitely shoot the ball, which Dwight is no good at

For whatever reason there are people on this board that like to denigrate Robinson's game. Maybe they only watched him play his last couple of seasons after his back gave out, I don't know. Whatever the reason, it doesn't make sense to me. Unless we acknowledge what a great player he was, Dream's destruction of him in 1995 loses a lot of its meaning IMO.

Kareem was 38 years old in that series. Nowhere near his prime.

Howard is the same caliber of rebounder and defender that Dream and Robinson were, but he has no offensive skill. Despite that, he still averages 18 points on 58% shooting for his career. He's a step down from Olajuwon, but he's well above guys like Deke. The Seikaly comparison is silly.

I think that game was a result of him trying to go for the scoring title at the end of the season
