Uh, 25% of the population with no insurance. You just going to leave that one out as a factor?

83% of doctors have considered leaving their practice due to Obamacare.

    http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/09/r...tors-have-considered-quitting-over-obamacare/

Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.

The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65.

By 2025 the shortage will balloon to over 130,000, Len Marquez, the director of government relations at the American Association of Medical Colleges, told The Daily Caller.

“One of our primary concerns is that you’ve got an aging physician workforce and you have these new beneficiaries — these newly insured people — coming through the system,” he said. “There will be strains and there will be physician shortages.”

The DPMA found that many doctors do not believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will lead to better access to medical care for the majority of Americans, co-founder of the DPMA Kathryn Serkes told TheDC.

“Doctors clearly understand what Washington does not — that a piece of paper that says you are ‘covered’ by insurance or ‘enrolled’ in Medicare or Medicaid does not translate to actual medical care when doctors can’t afford to see patients at the lowball payments, and patients have to jump through government and insurance company bureaucratic hoops,” she said. The American Medical Association, which endorsed Obama’s health care overhaul, was not able to immediately offer comment on the survey. Spokesperson Heather Lasher Todd said it would take time to review the information in the survey.

Janelle Davis of the American Academy of Family Physicians said the AAFP could not provide thoughtful commentary without studying the survey’s findings and methodology.

Yes, a very reliable survey by an organization who doesn't even try to hide the fact they are anti-RomneyerObamacare.

Let the right gloat over their short lived victory, but the future of Texas is socialist. The future of America is socialist.

    And godless. ;)

And it's just around the corner, perhaps no more than one generation away.

    ;)

They surveyed a random selection. But the responses they received were not a random selection. Nice spin, but it doesn't meet the standards of a scientifically sound survey.

And, of course, the Daily Caller neglects to mention that the DPMA is a political action group that was formed last fall specifically to oppose ObamaCare.

The AMA endorses the ACA, here is what the DPMA says about themselves...

"Doctor Patient Medical Association officially launched in late Fall 2011, after many years in the making. We may be a new group, but we’ve been in the trenches on health care policy and freedom for a very long time. DPMA and PPA is a continuation of years of work representing other groups or associations."

Forgive me if I trust the judgement of the AMA over a group launched in late Fall of 2011.

You are such a lying tool

    Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA)

The Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA) and the Patient Power Alliance (PPA) work to repeal health care reform[1] and call themselves a "a nonpartisan association of doctors and patients dedicated to preserving free choice in medicine."[2] The organization is a member of the National Tea Party Federation[3] and the "American Grassroots Coalition."[4]

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council

The DPMA is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). DPMA Chair and Co-Founder, Kathryn Serkes, is on ALEC's Health and Human Services Task Force.[5]

Maybe 20% - Ann Ward, Vice President with the Texas Hospital Association, points out: “People say illegal immigrants are a large part of the uninsured population but the studies I’ve seen by the Texas Department of Insurance, it’s less than 20 percent of uninsured are illegal immigrants."

The Texas Medical Association says: "More than 6.3 million Texans - including 1.2 million children - lack health insurance."

So you're about 5 million people short in your estimates. You know, the vast majority of the total number. Oops.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to think that where the thing is linked from affects the credibility and scientific soundness of the study. Try thinking critically before posting nonsense.

Take away the 1.5 million illegals and our percentage rates with other states.

If you don't think that is a large portion, consider the medicaid perry is turning down expands medicaid by the same amount. oops.

Where will these doctors go? Nowhere because they won't get paid as much anywhere else because the rest of the 1st world has universal healthcare, and good luck making a lot in the 3rd wold.

Them and "n" Presidents. In Perry's case, at least, I honestly don't think there's anything more to it than that.

Do you think hundreds of millions is virtually nothing or are you unaware it would cost them hundreds of millions?

Yes, I think it's virtually nothing in the grand scheme of things. A few hundred million to cover 1.8 million people is a few hundred dollars per person for medical coverage - that's an incredibly efficient use of money. And when you compare that to how much would be saved for the taxpayer from paying for their care as uninsured people as is done now, it's a net savings for the state that is subsidized by the federal government.

Like the survey bigtexxx posted in another thread, this survey is not scientifically sound because there is a response bias in their methodology. Though probably not as extreme and there are likely real problems here with Medicare/Medicaid, the numbers themselves are not statistically valid.

Anything to backup those figures? It sounds incredibly suspect. The state is already billions behind and trying to keep doctors in the system (who are bailing at unbelievable rates) will cost them even more. I don't think adding a few billion in costs over the next 10 years is a good move.
