Yeah, pau and odom will be just past their prime, but still capable of putting up solid numbers...Kobe will be ready to take a backseat and Bynum, assuming he stays healthy, can be dealth to Orlando to make the switch easier/faster. Those old vets would make a great supporting cast next to dwight. They just need a a new PG, possibly Dragic, who'll be unrestricted by then i believe. Gibson, Sessions, even CP3 and DWill are options.
Lakers will somehow pull off a lopsided trade with Derek Fisher and a first rounder for John Wall and then magically(see what I did there) clear enough space to sign Dwight Howard. Kobe and Artest will ride Wall, Howard, and Gasdol for 6 rings so that Kobe can have 12, one more then Bill Russell. Phil Jackson will also ride along. Then every mindless fool will say Kobe is the best player ever because he won the most rings ever. Meanwhile, David Stern will force the Heat to trade their big 3 to Boston so that we can watch the Celtics and Lakers in the finals for the next decade. With the occasional Detroit or San Antonio to avoid suspicion
Maybe he really just has his eye on LA... Dwight in a clippers uniform dunking alongside blake griffin??? ...dangerous
He needs to join forces with CP3 in the Dirty. Or, both take their talents to the West Coast and join an aging Kobe. Talk about a Big 3...
man that would be so wack if that happens. the lakers ALWAYS have a superstar at its disposal. ALWAYS it appears.
I've always wondered what L.A. was going to do once they lost PJ for good and Kobe got over the hill. Dwight Howard and all other superstars that would "want to go to L.A." aside, I can imagine them floundering in the lottery in several years. I guess that's what makes the Lakers the Lakers though--the fact that they're always back to contend every decade.
Seriously, there's a special circle in hell reserved for David Stern when he gets there. He probably considers 1993-1995 to be his personal "off" years because of how much less money the NBA took in.
If Kobe wings 12 rings, who would you rate as better than him? Don't be a ridiculous old man who lives in the past
Under the scenario presented by da_juice, Kobe still wouldn't have done anything to surpass MJ. Hanging on for six more years and riding a young superstar in DH to more rings doesn't really move him up on the all-time list.
Shaq and Gasol have skills that Dwight Howard will probably never attain.. even if he goes to LAL, I dont see them being as dominant as they are now (especially with Kobe or Phil retiring)
In 2 years, the Lakers are going to be a shell of themselves. Kobe will be approaching the end of his career, and Phil Jackson will be gone. This makes absolutely no sense other than Bucher just throwing BS out there to remain relevant. I bet the question was "Would you consider the Lakers if you become a free agent in 2 years?" What's Dwight supposed to say?? This is a non-article.
Ric Bucher? Not a reliable source, media talking head with no real basketball knowledge, or insider knowledge either for that matter.
