With Gerald Green out indefinitely and McLemore’s surprising preseason do the Rockets have enough faith in him to allow him to fill those minutes?
Prehype aside...I agree I think that’ll be the difference between him being a real find or real hard to find
Awesome. Now I've got Mark Morrison on repeat. Now that Anthony Bennett has been released, this season's success hangs on Ben McLemore. Let's go Ben!
I don’t want to act like Gerald green is too much more than a nightly heat check...but a solid one. Outside of your main rotation ideally we’d have a couple players to heat check. It would be nice to see Mac prove himself worthy
Thabo looks pretty damn good i would imagine he gets more playing time if he wasn’t going to get it already.
He’s pretty terrible, but that doesn’t make him any different then Green. Both have impressive athleticism, but just don’t know what’s going on and are relatively thin for wings. Ben looks like a Gerald replica at 6’5. In the preseason he has shot a whopping 2.8 made threes in only 20 mpg. Albeit at only 33%, the volume of made 3’s is still relatively impressive.
Love me some greenlight but cmon..... He was prone to making some boneheaded plays and a liability on defence! When his shot was on wow.... But when he is cold he offers nothing else. Wish him a speedy recovery, but McLemore, Rivers, House and Stefolasia will do just fine
sucks for Gerald. to be fair he wasn't going to get real minutes anyway. I see the rotation like this: capela (32) - chandler/nene (12) tucker (32) - thabo (12) gordon (30) - house (24) harden (36) - Westbrook (34) - rivers (28) we can find 6-10 minutes for green/mclemore by lowering harden/house/rivers a touch but I don't see MDA playing 10 guys every night. the loss of green and the addition of mclemore effect our rotation probably only if our top 9 miss a game with injuries.
It is genuinely impossible for McLemore to be worse than Gerald Green in any facet of the game besides shooting. I like Gerald because he reps Houston hard, but he's one of the worst defenders, passers, and BBIQ players in the NBA. Doubt he plays much, but I think McLemore will fill his spot fine if he needs to, and likely be better.
i'll wait till i see more consistency before i make a judgement (i haven't been that impressed before last night), but nice to see him taking advantage of his opportunity.
