Anybody else has this resolution? So far 2009 has been smoke free, but NOT without issues. Damn, I DO WANT a cigarette...badly. One good thing, this is the longest I've quit in 34 years. I'm sure I will this time but damn....it's tough. Oh, another good thing, wife hasn't asked for a divorce yet
I've got the nicotine part out of the way by slowing my smoking way down. I just get nervous about what I'm going to do with my extra time. REAL nervous. We went to the Dallas Symphony yesterday and on the drive home (back to Denton) I was completely stupid...wife said so Anyway, that was a new experience and although I didn't smoke, I made an ass out of myself with stupid anger. I'm going to marry my wife again if she continues to put up with me. She has been great.
my friend used Chantix for 1 month.. then he stopped the Chantix (didn't want to be on something like that for a long time), and the urge was gone. In fact, he feels like smoking a cigarette would make him feel sick now (though that probably wouldn't be the case if he actually did it). (And he was smoking at least a pack a day..often more.. for about 6-7 years before that)
I didn't plan on it, but I haven't had one since New Year's Eve. I was probably a pack every week to week & a half. It was starting to pick up more and more though. Just quit cold turkey for the 2nd time. I've craved one here and there, but I just didn't smoke. I chew some gum instead. The real test will be the next time I go to the bar.
I was thinking of starting smoking. I've never smoked so I have been chewing the gun for a week to get used to the nicotine. Can anyone recommend a brand to smoke first? Thanks.
rocketraccoon probably one of the hardest things i have done in my life was quit smoking cigs. but i promise you it is very well worth it. there are so many good things that come out of it. you know too bad they arent healthy and make everything smell good. why do things have to be like that.
I had my last cig on 12/31/99, so it CAN be done. I quit cold turkey but my habit was a little less than 10 years. Just remember that it gets EASIER as you go, not harder. Good luck and hang in there.
no way dude those sound like expert level, im just a beginner. I don't wanna get sick! That might put me off smoking altogether.
wow those do look good. Cork filters, I guess that makes it much smoother than rolling my own eh? My friends smoked Camels all the time and I really liked that smell, is that a flavor or special blend or just garbage?
Like HayesStreet said, it's a shame! Back in 90s someone told me I couldn't compete in a triathlon because of my smoking. Someone said I would never run a marathon as a smoker. I proved them wrong back then. But now I'd like to give it a second shot and try to collect some ribbons (strickly the age group ones ) So yeah, the benefits will be HUGE!!!!!!
Yep, need to remember THAT one because it's still hard as hell. Thanks for the luck! My dad quit around the same time you did and I'm SOOO proud of the man. And a Congratulations to you.
as a non-smoker looking to start, what are you going to do when you drink coffee or go on long drives?
You're looking to start smoking? I'm a non-smoker, and am surprised that I am since I'm around smokers a lot, I've smoked before but have never really found the urge to take it up as a habit. From seeing friends try to quit though I can understand how hard it is so good luck to all of you trying to quit. For me I'm cutting down on drinking and eating out. I don't consider myself an alcoholic or have an eating problem but am looking for ways to save money.
