That's the problem I presented in my post. We risk losing both. Not completely against just adding Deng as a rental this season, but I think that would be pointless. We may not mesh quickly enough in half a season for a deep playoff run, and even if we did, we'd just lose him in the off season.

we need a tougher bench. And if boozer gets amnestied it will be in offseason not now.

I'd take Stan VG as HC and Jeff VG as defensive coordinator. A bit far fetched, but not really if you think hard about it while cocking your head slightly to the side and squinting, and then really far fetched again once you straighten your head back up.

That's why Parsons would be off the table in talks for Deng.

The only way it happens is if Morey finds takers for Asik and Lin that include expiring contracts and draft picks.

Jimmy Butler would be moved to play SF which is said to be his natural position. Then there's Taj Gibson who can play all the frontcourt positions.

Im sure Parsons could bulk up to 240+ pretty easy without hurting his gane too much.

I'm going to assume that IF we traded for Deng it would be a multi-team deal sending out both Asik and Lin and probably other players and getting back Deng and probably another expiring contract or two.

Just another note on Deng. His cap hold (35% of salary cap) will be in the range of $20-22 million if the salary cap is somewhere between $59-62.5 million. What that basically means is IF we trade for him any free agent plays we would make not involving Deng this summer would essentially require a resolution to his free agency relatively quickly....whether that be renouncing him or re-signing him to a reasonable long term deal.

Trade Lin & Asik for Deng and cash. Works for both teams.

MKG to Chicago (very good trade)

If three way trade is an option this would work for all teams .

    rockets/deng
    Bobcats/asik
    Bulls/MKG

    I like it.

    still need a backup center..

If you were looking for a coach, why would you give up a first round pick for one like Thibodeau when you could hire outright a Jeff Van Gundy or Stan Van Gundy?

here's what i think happens to the bulls:

    1. deng traded for an ending contract and pick(s) at the deadline.
    2. amnesty boozer at season's end.
    3. gibson and dunleavy traded for cap space before free agency.
    4. make a run at melo
    5. if melo signs, make another run with rose/butler/snell/melo/noah. if melo passes i think thibs resigns because the bulls would rather keep their cap space for 2015, and thibs doesn't want to go through a rebuilding process and hates the bulls front office already, and he disagrees with getting rid of deng and boozer. he'll think about leaving once those two are gone, buck stick around incase they land melo.

Our bench sure would be much improved with Deng taking some of Casspi/ Garcia's minutes.

I don't think the Bulls front office see it as a rebuilding move.

29 teams in the league would happily trade for Butler in place of Deng. With Boozer they're replacing him with Mirotic/Gibson. There were rumors at the beginning of this season that Mirotic to the Bulls next year is a done deal.

Would JVG coach here again? Or anywhere? It's been a long time, he's become accustomed to the TV life.
