Embarrassing for the NBA that they have gone so far down the rabbit hole of "player empowerment" that they are completely on board with this dude collecting 15 million dollars to not do his job and in the meantime demanding a trade to a set list of big market teams.

Disappointing that we have reached this point

I hope the Rockets don't waste assets for Iguodala at this point.

Apparently Iggy threatens to sit out season if Memphis won’t trade him to desired agreed upon team. I would not trade him and file a lawsuit, player empowerment has gotten out of hand and **** Iggy for real! NBA league office should step in and make a new rule so he cannot go back to GS next season or ever!

Do you have an issue with teams not playing players they are trying to offload to ensure they don’t get injured?

His agent has obviously gotten wind of a deal that memphis has for him and he once again is acting like the classless person he is.

    This isn't the solution.
The solution is to actually GIVE a second rounder to the worst possible situation, with the worst possible coldest winter in the last second of the trade deadline and then actively work with that team to make sure he gets the strictest possible punishment for not reporting.

There are actual other past cases where a player was punished by the NBA for failling to report.

If they threaten to not play: hell yes. Any player should be forced to be part of the team if he’s on the roster, lest it be a health or grave family issue. A team should not even be allowed to have this agreement. NBA should punish both.

Because Memphis would rather pay him not to play with the hope they can get a #1 for him.

Something has to give if he isn't dealt at the deadline because there will be no motivation for Memphis to continue to pay him.

The Grizz discussed a buyout with him in the past and he wanted virtually all his money.

why should he be punished when memphis agreed to not play him. this isn't a 1 way street. memphis decided what they wanted to do with their own organization.

I said punish both. Or have an agreement that if a player refuses to play, he gets nothing and team gets compensation like in case of an injured player. There should be no incentive for a team to agree to this.

i see 1 incentive. developing their young players and they've done a great job in that regard so far. Iggy would have hindered the development by taking meaningful minutes. this is a big reason why his future in memphis made no sense in the first place bc they were starting from scratch

the agreement was that he would not report and we will try to find a contender for him to play on. Now he is threatening to not report to a team unless he is traded to some team he wants to play for.

In the CBA the grizzlies could have affected his free agency for the duration of his career for not reporting to the grizzlies. Iguodala is walking a thin line as far as I'm concerned.

link to that story? if its true is that really a surprise. players have all the control in this era, it's the leagues as a whole for allowing guys to demand trades and dictate where they want to go in the first place. Iggy is hardly some new story
