If it wasn't for the upcoming deluge of NBA cash, RJ would have committed a free agency mistake of Bonzi Wells magnitude.
Reggie Jackson will get a Lance Stephenson type contract. Short, somewhat team friendly but he will get paid well. 3 years/40M, decreasing in amount every year.
Jackson with 23 points on 10-18 shooting and 20 assists. Count it again. 20 assists. ...and a win against the Grizzlies.
And the Pistons' record is 2-10 after the trade and they ended a 10 games losing streak. And Jackson shot worse in Detroit, both 2p and 3p, have a worse assist / TOV ratio and taking almost 5 more shots per game.
Assist count. The pill of the damned. Lulz. Just kidding. But I like that term I just made up. I've seen Sessions, Vasquez, Jamaal Tinsley and Kendall Marshall put up wild assist numbers despite being marginal players.
RJ is more talented than those guys. His problem is between the ears more than a lack of talent. But if he never learns to shoot and doesn't play within his actual ability, it won't matter. SVG is a good coach for him. He will never tire of repeating the plain truth to RJ each and every day without concern of offending him. Maybe it will sink in eventually.
I'm not even sold he's worth the time. PG is the deepest position in sports and the elite ones aren't even winning titles.
Love how he doesn't see the ish getting blocked, looks so confident. "Alright, Imma sink this shot and show em who da real Reggie is, getting traded was a brilliant move, aw jier."
Someone school me on nba, when was the last time a pg Trade mid season has completely changed the season of the team for the better?
