After that feeble attempt at starting a game thread , here are the pitching matchups: 9-6 -- Aaron Harang (8-7, 4.25) vs. Brandon Backe (2-2, 4.74) 1:05 on KNWS 9-7 -- Paul Wilson (9-5, 4.63) vs. Roy Oswalt (16-9, 3.54) 7:05 on FSSW 9-8 -- Jose Acevedo (5-10, 5.94) vs. Roger Clemens (15-4, 3.27) 1:05 on FSSW
The game better be on TV! I know that the website said the game would be on KNWS, but I looked at my Tv guie channel and it said that paid programming would be on during the time slot the Astros were supposed to be on. I'm going to say we push this streak to atleast 12.
Scoreboard watching: Expos at Cubs, 3:05: Armas (2-2, 3.86) vs. Clement (9-12, 3.44) Cardinals at Padres, 9:05: Carpenter (14-5, 3.51) vs. Eaton (9-12, 4.71)
LWW. Its only a matter of time before reality sets in for Backe, Munro, and that bullpen. Clemens and Oswalt need to dominate in September.
Well, this is the hottest I've seen the team since 1986, the year it seemed we made every clutch hit. This year we are just punding the ball out of the park at alarming rates. It's almost scary.
I read that Backe was drafted as a 2nd basemen, but he played OF before he pitched. No wonder he hits well. Did you see that swing he took before he hit the HR? He was swinging for yard all the time. And his HR was an opposite field shot. If he keeps hitting like this he could be a pinch hitter for us. Remember how Hampton would pinch hit sometime? Sounds good: Palmeiro, Ensberg/Lamb, Lane, Burke and Backe as the PHs.
Remember when people ridiculed Garner for even thinking that this team is capable of winning 10 in a row? GO ASTROS!!
