I've building a new engine for my Mustang...should be putting out close to 350 horses with tons of torque. This is my project Red Venom.
Weird thread im kinda confused. Try Atkins if your the guy on the right and if your the guy on the left your fine.
More info please! Where are you getting your parts? What kind? How much you think it'll cost? and uh...what happen to your old engine?
What's so confusing about it? Read slowly, stop at periods, take deep breaths, take tylenol for headaches.
I got the block from a friend that had it decked, honed, and balanced. It's a 351 bored out +.060 to a 362. He stuffed some Keith Black valve relief pistons in there and it should be putting out about 10:1 compression when she's running. I ordered the swap parts through Mustangs Unlimited, Jeg's, and Summit. I bought some AFR 185's to top it off, and I ebayed those. I also picked up some BBK 1 3/4's swap longtubes through Brothers Performance, and I had Ed Curtis cut me a custom roller cam. All in all, I've probably spent over 3 grand in this buildup. I hope to have her running by the end of the week. I'm reusing the accessories off the old engine, as well as some parts, like the roller spider and dog bones. I'm selling off the old longtubes, GT40 Heads, and Cobra Intake. I might sell off the old block or refresh and stroke it out to a 347.
http://www.snowperformance.net/proddetail.asp?prod=auto010 run 92 octane and bump your timing way up for the track, run 87 on the street with normal timing. Goes great with that Novi 2000 that will be on there someday. Sweet project btw!
That's exactly what I do, except I don't detune for the street. I'm actually leaning towards a Procharger, but that will be in the distant future. That "snow" is pretty cool!!!
Well, all the parts that need to be salvaged from the old 302 are off and cleaned up. Stage 2 had begun. The lower end has been built...just waiting on some rewelding of the oil pan, but that won't go in until the end anyway. Cam and timing chain are in, ARP head studs are in, timing cover w/ new seal, water pump, sfi approved balancer/spacer/underdrive pulley are in. Tommorow I will get some linked retrofit lifters, and the rest of the engine should follow. I still have to change the fuel pump and order the pushrods, but I don't think that will be an issue. The heart of Red Venom Some of the "goodies" that should be bolted on very soon. These will replace those old dirty valve covers. Lincoln Mark VIII Fan. Strongest Fan on the market. AFR 185's BBK 1 3/4 longtube headers
Bringing this thread back from the dead because Red Venom finally woke up. I have to tune a little, get ahold of a hood scoop off of a 99 GT(hood won;t close), and install the upgraded fuel pump/dial in the adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I'm also vacuuming out the A/C system since she is intended to be my daily driver...got to have the a/c here in the valley...but she's just about done!!!
Finally got Venom dynoed...pretty happy with the HP and the torque was awesome!!! 1st run-294.99 hp--354.27 tq ran rich at 42 lbs of fuel pressure. Re-tuned to 35 lbs fuel pressure... 2nd run-324.61 hp--385.34 torque Pretty happy being in the 300+ hp club on my daily driver. I almost hit 400 lbs of torque... I'm happy since she runs a/c and take me to work every day.
