We need a healthy Tmac. If Tmac is healthy, everything else will fall in place. He's our best player and our leader and when healthy, a top 5 player in this league.
Where is that Charley Rosen article on Yao? Gigantism or something. He's was right. T-Mac and Yao are stocks with high risk and decent return. But we need to lower our risk and improve return. I would only keep these guys if they considered taking significantly less money. But it is necessary we find new talent to build around. We need 2 healthy stars.
I think we just need to hang on till 2010. We let T-Mac give it one more shot and expire. Same for Yao. Landry, Lowry, Brooks and Wafer will be very solid role players by then. Who knows, maybe even Dorsey. We'll have cap space. We'll have a fresh start and we can decide who to keep and who to let go of. I think our team with Brooks/Lowry/Landry/Wafer adding experience, Scola producing better, Ron improving his shot selection and Yao wit a lot of rest will do well. Maybe T-Mac gives us a terriffic secnd hald in his contract year. Basically, we let this team try again. In any case, we'll be in great position to rebuild or fortify in 2010.
hakeem spent an entire career here, including his college years, but for one last season in Toronto. have you ever actually been to houston?
Given the current contract situatioin with Yao and McGrady, what you suggest may be the only option available to the team. It would take a very shrewd move from Morey to turn trade either Yao or Mcgrady for an impact player, given their health status.
except that they both represent expiring contracts, right?? which have value in and of themselves if you're trying to free up space for free agents.
that's not because of Yao or Tmac, or even ron...that's because we r here.. that's a place a chiampionship will never come, a place called houston!!
As much as some of you guys would like to try and trade Yao, it's almost impossible. You have to deal with the chinese government first and then you have to convince Les to give up all the money that he will be losing with China, ie....."marketing". Yao is a money machine for any organization due to him being China's biggest star.
there won't be a trade...the only question is whether he walks and/or the Rockets let him walk...when his contract expires. or will they give him a max deal. i've said since they drafted him that it better work out on the court, because the stuff off the court will be too attractive to les to part with. as a fan of this franchise, that doesn't excite me. i could not care less about les' business dealings in China and the economic benefits to the franchise....i'm concerned only with the product they put on the hardwood.
here we go again.... yes, we are all evil, evil people in houston, texas. how dare we question the value of a player who can't stay healthy to close out a season!!!
