Far-'weed' two early fouls stacked odds against the team.

The rebounding advantage was for the thunder but the early fouls mess up stuff for role players.

Far-'weed' first foul was loose ball scramble where hit Westbrook.

Even with Clint, we've always been a bad rebounding team. The reason is none of those tweener PFs Morey drafted ever works out for us.

But if you look at the league now, any contending team all have super long wings and forwards.

I was watching 76ers vs Fakers today and Fakers couldn't secure a rebound in the second half because of how damn long the 76ers were. It also makes them great get stealing and causing turnovers.

It's something OKC is built around. Presti has chosen to get guys who are long and athletic before they can shoot properly. It's also why they are so good defensively and we all know defense can get you back into the game.

“You can’t be (ranked No.) 27 to 28 (in rebound percentage) and think you’re going to compete for a title,” D’Antoni said. “That’s not going to happen.” “Last year, when our defense really ticked up, we were in the top three rebounding defensively.”

"We have to box out. We have to go after it first. Most rebounds are below the rim. Everybody on our team can jump to the rim. It’s just a matter of getting yourself in position and a desire to rebound." - MDA

When House was starting, the Rockets were 6th in opponent second chance points and 18th in defensive rebounding and only about 1 percentage point away from the top 10.

Before House and with Capela, the Rockets were 22nd in opponent second chance points and second to last in defensive rebounding and nearly 8 percentage points from the top 10.

And after House and Capela have missed the past month, the Rockets are 23rd in opponent second chance points and second to last in defensive rebounding and nearly 8 percentage points from the top 10.

House made the big difference in rebounding. Having some more size at the 3 has been the biggest factor this season in securing more rebounds.

Oh, and the Rockets were winning games at a 62 win pace with House starting.

    THIS!

Also House was very good at boxing out.

We can complain about lack of athleticism playing against the Thunder and their athleticism and length.....but the Rockets had some of that...in House!

Dantoni can say what he wants if most rebounds happen below the rim then why not go with five 6’5 guys? Oh wait he does that... thats so gimmick

Tucker is good at boxing out but he's also the one guarding the best player (often a guard) out in the perimeter (someone recently asked why we needed to trade for Shumpert....).

I agree with OP's diagnosis of the rebounding problem. With Clint, we had a huge rebounding problem. What eventually fixed it was fixing Clint to patrol the paint and not switch out on the perimeter.

As far as the offense goes, the small ball lineup is no gimmick. The reason we have relatively consistent success against GSW is that we have players who can take advantage of Curry's weak on-ball D. EG particularly thrives against GSW because of his strength and quickness at his size.

It's frustrating seeing us match up against teams like OKC who's long and will get longer when they get Roberson back, but I think we're built specifically more for matching up against GSW over anyone else in the league. Too bad we only play them at most 4x in the reg season.

Who do you guys think he should be playing to get more rebounds?

He has the roster he has. Maybe he should run out a twin tower lineup of Nene and Faried and just give up 200 points a game.

Someone gets it. Been telling people this since week 2 of the season. That why I'm not ok with people trashing tuck.

So we want him to not only gaurd ur best perimeter guy but somehow get to the rim n rebound as you do it..

Then not only that u want him to whole sometimes the best post guy but have enough legs to hit 3s lol.

Our problem isnt tucker....its the fact he ur best perimeter defender, post defender, corner shooter and glue guy. That's kind of asking too much.

It's super sad he both your best post n perimeter guy. Hench why we brought in shump...n for the none smart people...with shump u cant expect him first game to take over all the perimeter responsibilities yet. 1 he not used to those many minutes yet. N 2 just takes time to lighten that load. In a months time tucker n shump will be better. Book it said this post.

I agree we asking too much of him but benching Tucker is not what i meant. I want either big athletic SF or rebounding stretch PF to compensate PJ. I dont care bout Morris he isnt playable in starting five aside PJ. We would be too slow with no fastbreaks and too weak in the post at the same time. Thats why House gels - he is a strong tall dude who will shoot corner, run and dunk, and bother any offensive player with his size. He may be scrub but he is perfect prototype player that we need thats why he fits so well giving us some things that Trevor did and Ennis never could

Exactly. That's why we need another legit PF like Morris. If they don't drastically improve that defensive rebounding %, they're not going to do much damage in the Playoffs.
