Man that loss was shocking . ****ing Tim hardaway JR just ****ing took over . He got insanely hot from 3 and then took it to the rack knowing that if Capela had to cover Dwight then we have no other shot blockers .
Rockets were actually playing really good defense in the second half which is how they got up 20 despite running a brick distributorship. Then they went to a super bowl party.
When was this period that Anderson couldn't miss?!? All we've been hearing this season is how horrible Anderson is and that nobody can believe we're paying him $20M.
Depending on offense to carry a team is fools gold, particularly when that team must score 110ppg to have a chance at winning. The defensive ceiling doesn't need to be high, just not this piss poor.
Not sure if "Reason for Losing = Defense" is the correct spin, here. Maybe "Can't rely on defense for wins" is closer.
Since teams typically don't fire players....is it to early to talk about replacing Bzdelic if the defense continues to go further south. We do not have defensive stoppers, but the system we use seems to consistently confuse Decker and Harrell. Effort and gameplanning seems like it could be better.
Are you saying we should dumb it down like we did last year when we gave the reigns to McHale's "defensive coordinator" JBB
The Rockets lost to Atlanta because we mentally checked out of the game and then it became too late. We need some defensive consistency that isn't consistently bottom tier. We knew the defense was going to be an issue this year and we have a trade deadline to potential address it.
No those two things are not equally likely. Our record against bad teams is better than our record against good teams. Our record with a regular schedule is better than our record with an insanely travel-heavy, packed schedule. We have proven that we can crush average or worse teams on a regular schedule, never mind the upcoming cupcake schedule with lots of rest and practice. The likelihood that we suddenly forgot to beat cupcake teams on a regular schedule, and that we can't even do it while we rest and practice more, is very low. We have not declined in our ability to win. That is the whole point I'm making. We will win more than 70% of our remaining games, I will make a tipjar bet with anyone on that (barring injuries to Anderson, Gordon, Harden or Beverley). My OPTIMISTIC prediction is we win 85% of our last 25.
And what's one thing that can throw off even the most proven 3-point shooters? Fatigue. Tired legs in particular. No need to worry about the rest of the season. The playoffs, though...
The best way for the Rockets to shut down a player who is destroying us is signing him for a huge contract. His % will drop dramatically.
