I hate reality TV with a passion, however, I am being drawn in, because Vanilla Ice is going to "perform" (note quotation marks) Ice Ice baby tonight on NBC. I dont know why, but I figure it will be like watching a train wreck.

Man, it would be classic if he performed that hard rock version he released a few years ago. LOL. This could be good. What is the format of the show? Do people get voted off or what

Siry Charlie: I dont know, I think the studio audience votes who is the "best", Yes I would have liked to see the hard rock version also. The dissapointing thing about it was the lack of parachute pants. I dont know, I suppose I still like him more than Eminem.

I wonder why we didn't notice how bad the lyrics were back in 1990. Go back and listen to it, if you dare. Scary. Like a poisonous mushroom. :D

I liked his version of Survivor. He deserved to win tonight, but then again, it wasn't as if he had stiff competition.

The show started off strong but went downhill quick with the cover songs. What's up with Haddaway singing toxic and slithering on the ground? That was a bit much. The lead singer for the Motels looked like they dug her out her grave. The host kept calling the Ice man "Vaniller". I did enjoy his performance, especially when he busted a move. Good stuff.

Vanilla Ice was a god to us 3rd graders back in 1990. good to hear he won, even though i didn't see it.

and the lyrics to the song are greatness. "deadly, when i play a dope melody, anything less than the best is a felony." vanilla is saying he gives it his all everytime, for the fans! who can't appreciate that?!

ok i'm starting to sound like tinman on vernon maxwell, time to stop.

    "we"? :)

my band in high school covered ice ice baby at the talent show try-outs. it was right after his 15 minutes had just ran out...we didnt get in. they couldnt handle our rad jams. that and we dropped our pants halfway through the song and walked offstage. "jealous, cause im out gettin' mine"

ever see his movie "cool as ice"? it was filmed at the apex of his popularity, but didnt make it to the theatres till he was universally despised and flopped. its is so absolutely horrible that its hilarious and entertaining (TO THE EXTREME). vanilla rides a neon green motorcycle, rides a horse and saves a town from a corrupt real estate mongul. he also dances! i dont want to spoil the plot, but you need to recognize and go check this movie out. you could probably buy it at walmart for $2.99.

If anyone ever catches me watching this show, please do me a favor and gouge out my eyeballs with rusty nails before dousing me with gasoline and setting me on fire.

He deserved to win if no singing or playing of instruments was what you were looking for. Oh, and bad 'dancing'.

I was acquainted with Prescott Niles, the Knack bass player, for about a year or so in the late 80s. Dude went from a house in the Hollywood Hills with a Porsche and a Mercedes in the driveway to living with his Mom in the San Fernando Valley in about 18 months.

    Cocaine is a helluva drug.

    I saw this.

Half the fun of the video was the fact that the guy had moves. He didn't do any dancing. He can't sing. In fact, outside of that 1 song, he flat out sucks.

Of course that's just my opinion.

You "missed" Loverboy last week. Word on the street has it that they've changed their name to Loverfatboy.

Like all of the great social philosophers before him, Vanilla Ice speaks to us on many different levels.

And their methods of disseminating social discourse are virtually identical in nature. Homer had The Illiad. Plato had the Republic. Vanilla Ice? How about that seminal work known as "Cool As Ice". [IMG]

Two quotes that we can all learn from:
    (1) "Yo, if ya ain't true to yo self, then you can't be true to nobody".

    and, of course,

    (2) "Yo, you need to drop da zero and get wit da hero".

    Word 2 ya mutha.
