Let's all hope like hell he does find that shooting stroke because his play this season has been so disappointing.

We're now back to Harden having to go into God mode for us to win and we all know how this movie ends in the playoffs when Harden has to be all everything for this team.

I agree, can't waste hardens prime. I'd trade CP3, & Gordon for Beal and Wall if possible. But unlikley.

I think Paul will slowly improve throughout the season as he continues to recover from his hamstring injury from last year. Gordon I don't know what his issue is.

im telling you right now. you dont want CP playing "hard" during the regular season. a smart team would keep him as FRESH as possible for playoffs.

his hammy will be worse if he plays more/hard during the regular season when it doesnt even matter.

CP3 for Ingram, Rondo (rental), and KCP (rental / try-and-buy) would work salary wise, but CP3 isn't tradeable until 15-January.

I doubt the Lakers would do that trade, but may be with 2 FRPs added they might if LeBron really wants to play with CP3. The Lakers would have LeBron and CP3 together for 3 more years after this year, plus still have Lonzo, Kuzma and Hart under team control.

Lakers end up with 2 HoF vets (CP3 & LeBron) plus Lonzo to run the offense...and only really give up Ingram out of their young talent.

Guards: CP3, Lonzo, Hart, Myhailuk, Bonga
    Forwards: LeBron, Kuzma, Beasley, Stephenson
    Center: McGee, Chandler, Zubak

Rockets end up getting out from under CP3's contract, and getting below the luxury tax.

Since this would still be a very unbalanced, old and physically short team, additional trade(s) of Gordon, Knight and/or PJ separately for more young 3 & D guys that can also rebound would be needed.

Beforehand, the Rockets end up starting Harden, Gordon, KCP, PJ and Capela. Roster of:

Guards: Harden, Gordon, Rondo, KCP, Knight (MCW released or traded earlier)
    SF: KCP/Ennis/House
PF: PJ/Clark (Chriss released or traded earlier)
    C: Capela/Nene

I'd rather trade CP3 for Matt Maloney than Brandon Ingram.

I get sick just at the thought of that overrated trash on this team.

I also can't stop laughing when I see people use him as a centrepiece for an AD trade scenario.

I'd rather than have Ingram than Maloney, but still understand the sentiment. Other posters suggested the Lakers want to trade Ingram for a vet.
The only likely CP3 trade scenarios are for a pile of questionable players (like suggested above)...or an equally overpriced contract/player (i.e. Wall).

We're still suffering from Ryno contract damage (in contracts of Chriss & Knight, plus loss of Melton), and now have compounded it with what appears to be a rapidly declining CP3. The Rockets medical staff should know if he's hurt versus just old...

Morey is not able to improve the rosters because of Paul and Knight contracts.

Let's say Knight and Paul make $40 million (not 55M) a season, Morey would have spent MLE every season.

    Trade them right away.

Other studies show a peak a bit later (age 27-28), but also show a slow drop off from peak age until 32-33, then a much more rapid decline on average.

We have CP3, Tucker, and Green as 33 year olds, plus Nene at 36 in our rotation.
Harden and Gordon are 29...near but just past their peak.
Only Capela (24) and House (25) in our rotation are likely to improve vs regress.

    I like the study.
29 other teams have at least 6 young rotation players (younger than peak) and at least 3 first round rookie contacts.
Chriss is a first round rookie contract, unfortunately it's expiring.

The problem there is defense is usually the first thing that goes with age

That's definitely the case now that less physicality is allowed . In the past , veterans could get by with smarts and using their strength (which doesn't go as quickly as speed)

But this freedom of movement really hurts older teams like us that rely more on strength advantage to D up
