Well Ralph was a really tall 7’4”, very skilled, ran the floor like a guard, score from anywhere, well rounded player that could front or back the basket in an era were most bigs were only back to the basket. His mindset was determined and team oriented. (This would kill his career because he wanted to play instead of heal after his injury). Because of his skills he was able to successfully play out of position so Akeem would have a spot on the team. He was a point center —> A true unicorn in most ways. The best thing about him he would show up big in big games, too. Fitch (the coach at the time) just through out the best 5 players and ran traditional sets; never highlighted the talent’s strengths. It’s really unknown what could have been for Ralph if placed in a better situation. He came into the league with as much hype as LaBron James did and lived up to it till the injury. Sampson still had untapped potential and was already a top fifteen player in a league of legends. Then the injury happened and his career spiraled from there.
thanks for the info. sounds like he was not only a top level talent but a player of top level character. worked hard to get him on 2k20 haha
Maxwell is awesome and I know you bible study don’t like real @CometsWin Maxwell was down with REAL houstonians
Yao is a mouthpiece for a despicable Communist regime. Where does that fit into your great person idea?
I could have made a comment about your post. But I don't want to let the D&D virus infect yet another basketball thread.
when people bring up ralph.. i know they are old school rockets fans. I never seen a whole game or witness one. I never seen hakeem first few years. i only seem him in his prime honestly. I watched the rockets play on channel 51.
Some people don’t love the story of redemption Those who go through tough times and come out better later in life those people are more interesting Max actually has a life A real one but I know some fake people don’t like any real stories Because these online people are so righteous Max really turned his life around and he was always in Houston out with regular people then and now @mikol13
Michael Jordan was a great person too Until we actually found out he wasn’t nobody really knows Yao’s story Especially now. He’s been a great citizen Doesn’t make people who’ve been through struggles lesser people To hell with the fake righteous people here I hope they find some real life situations
I am sorry for being a fake righteous person. Yao “seemed” to always be working for a positive gain. He really “seemed” like a more than likable person. He “seemed” to be one the most approachable players in the league. When one talks about change from one’s past; growth from they ordeals. How about overcoming ones origins. Can Yao help were he is from?
Lay-off Max He’s a better person now He’s spent the later part of his life helping his son getting into college you think all players or people in general have to be perfect people ? You aren’t a real rockets fan then Hakeem was a hot head who fought people in his early years Rudy t was a drunk Clutch city was never about straight laced people It was about overcoming challenges You idiots are acting like Max is out there selling drugs and killing people michael Jordan was cheating on his wife Why treat him differently? this ain’t a church league @mikol13
Vernon Maxwell is human And a very important player in Rockets history Yao is a better player yes But he was never part of a team that sniffed a title @mikol13
I think you crossed forums. This Yao / Ralph not The battle for #11. Yes I know it’s not a church league; that’s why I like Ralph over Yao as players. I don’t want to befriend the players, but rather be entertained by them. I choose fandom as a way to escape from my reality. The players are parts to my favorite team. The last point I was trying to convey, Yao can’t help his past, much like anyone.
If you have issues with Maxwell’s personal life from the 90s then you got some messed up judgmental issues @CometsWin These people must be some soft ass suckers he slapped up at Luby’s Yao might be a nice guy but he’s definitely loyal to his country He might never talk about rockets ever again because Of the Morey tweet At least Max still shows up in Houston
Yao was a model citizen when he came over, his post retirement job shouldn't be accounted for... Also you can still be a law abiding citizen working for the CCP. He is a cog in a huge machinery pleasing his superiors. You can't be an activist where he is from however he can continue to donate to causes. We'll see if they are mad at Morey or the whole organization once Morey is gone.
