If not upper cutting my wife and knocking her out puts me "above other people" then I will take it.

Sometimes having expectations of people are not a bad thing.... god forbid we expect each other not to kill, attack each other or be a serial rapist (Meggett and Sharper).

I guess I just don't understand the mentality. An engagement is supposed to be a happy time in our lives. Families are supposed to be meshing, wedding/honeymoon plans are supposed to be being made, etc.

I just can't imagine any possible scenario that would involve me wanting to marry someone who could get so drunk that she spit in my face and then knocking her unconscious for doing so.

    Am I too old fashioned?

I think it's hilarious that all the talking heads are already passing judgment here. The video shows N-O-T-H-I-N-G. She could and most likely was sloppy drunk. Rice's obvious error is being hooked up with her in the first place. But whether he hit/slapped her and "knocked her out" is a different question altogether. Going to be hard to prove he did without video.

I wonder how anything ever got proven before the days of video? If only there were witnesses...

I was referring to your condemning Belcher. I'm sorry his suicide ruined your pastime.

Ohh I am sorry, you mean the man that SHOT and KILLED his 22 year old girlfriend prior to blowing his own head off?

Yeah I condemn him for murdering the mother of his child.... we won't even get into money being a motivation......

You're right. I'd forgotten about that part of it. That said, it's still an incredibly sad story. You just brought another death into the equation. So damn him for ruining your playtime. This certainly doesn't happen anywhere but the NFL.

    Well, You kinda just did.

    Or Rice's lawyer's statement...

“The video that has been put up by TMZ shows the very end of what transpired between Ray and his fiancée,” Michael Diamondstein said, via the Baltimore Sun. “We are confident that by the time all of the facts are in the open, the public will have a complete and true picture of what actually transpired, and we just ask that the public remember what a high-character, good person Ray is, and that they reserve judgment until all the facts are out.”

If she was just drunk and he didn't hit her, wouldn't it be smarter to just come out and say that instead of going with the predictable "reserve judgement until all the facts are out" template response?

He didn't "ruin my playtime". I don't care about "playtime".... I have a problem with PEOPLE acting like violent thugs.... and there has been a lot of it happening in the NFL it seems.

Rice and his fiancee should not have put themselves in the position they are in... period.

terrible reporting....an unconscious body doesn't kneel or lift up her leg. He may have hit her at some point, but this just looks like someone who's extremely drunk and probably sleepy.

No, no, I understand. The double-standard is ridiculous. This is the kind of person, including the Ingcognitos, Sharpers and Roethlisbergers of the world that the American public is fine with in the locker room, but Michael Sam is a bridge too far.

Yea, that chick look like she was popping pills with that Vodka... That looks like a "Passed Out Flop." I wana see what her face looks like.

I don't care about the altercation when they were reportedly fighting with each other because if they would do that in public, more than likely that wasn't the first time and she's still with him and he's still with her so whatever...

Not terrible reporting. He did knock her unconscious (at least according to SI). SI reports the police have video of him knocking her unconscious. This is not that video.

Not really, the police claim they actually have video of him hitting her and her falling... the mistake Rice made was that he did it in a CASINO where there are cameras everywhere.

This is folks acting like trash.....poor decisions.

Yes, you are kind of quaint for modern standards. Professional wedding planners often offer take-down and grappling moves to each person (separately, of course, and with extra charges).

When I was engaged to Mrs. B-Bob, I went to the wedding planner and was all like "why are you offering us th--" and then BOOM! I was on the floor, face-down, and it felt like my arm would come off at any minute.

Also, has anyone considered the following, beyond the obvious wedding planner angle:

If you are in the NFL and you know your brain will be turned to mush by the time you reach 50, what would be more romantic than declaring your forever love than you and your fiance deciding that she, too, should have brain trauma to match yours, so that you might age gracefully together. :)

That is the real problem... the behavior tolerated by fans and the NFL is amazing..... we have players heavily involved in gangs comitting HITS on the side KILLING people.... multiple players KILLING their girlfriends..... multiple players KILLING other people while driving drunk.... we have players getting gunned down in the street.... former players that become SERIAL RAPISTS...

Pretty serious deviant behavior and no one really seems to give a rats ass.
