I wish we did a trade for this guy, he is ripping it up.
Surley the Rockets could have worked some deal out to get him!
with Allen on the the Rockets they would make the playoff's.

No, they really couldn't acquire him given what Seattle offered. They had an offer for Desmond Mason and Payton and took it -- I don't know what we could have offered that would have been any better (keeping Francis and Yao).

Man, you gotta give Seattle credit: they traded Payton. I wish we had done that earlier with Hakeem when Toronto had made us an offer a couple of years earlier.

As it stands, we made out like a bandit: Boki-- the forgotten man.

trading Gary Payton send shock all over Seattle.... but getting Ray Allen put them into a good run...6-1..... wow!!

it makes me wonder... does it matter who is running the point? everyone say GP is the top 3 PG in the league.... but he can't lead his team to win....

Ray instead lead them to 6-1..... does that means a pure PG is not as important as one player who can get the ball in the hole and some other ROLE player who knows how to play?......

brent barry is a good passer, plus seattle is a relatively veteran team, been together for a while. Also GP lost the team this season, because of the contract dispute with the owners. Ever since Shawn kemp left, seattle has always over achieved because of payton, so having a hall of fame point guard is very important.

Getting Ray Allen would have done wonders for the Rockets! I was really hoping this trade would have gone down. The Rockets really need a third consistant scorer on the team be it Ray Allen or Elton Brand.

No way the Rockets could have come up with a better deal than Payton/Mason. However, if Payton leaves (which is a strong possibility) and that leaves them with Mason...makes you wonder if Mobley/Cato would have been better for Milwaukee. Milwaukee is getting crucified on the boards each night. Cato would have been a MAJOR help for them. Sure they can score points with all their swingmen but the trade they made did NOTHING to help their GREATEST weakness which was rebounding and defensive presence in the post. Cato would have given them some of that.

I know it is far-fetched, but what about a sign and trade for Payton this summer if he does not want to re-sign with Milwaukee? We could offer Rice's expiring contract along with a good player in exchange.

The Bucks wouldn't do that. Why would they want an expiring contract with Rice if they are ALREADY getting an expiring contract with Payton this summer? The only thing Rice's contract is good for is for players that are already tied up in longer term deals and teams are willing to give away good talent for someone whose contract is coming up. Milwaukee doesn't need rice as a player and doesn't need his expiring contract as they get that with Payton this summer.

What the Bucks DO need is a decent low post player/rebounder/shot blocker. If we were to trade with the Bucks, Cato would have to be involved.
