Thats about how I felt. It was solid and well done, but it never really wowed me at any point. Synecdoche, New York - Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut, with a strong cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener. Gut-wrenching at times, hilariously demented at others, everything you would expect from CK. 9/10
El Mariachi - Robert Rodrigues' first movie. Made for 7000$. It was a pretty good. Reminded me of the those old Karate pictures with the dubbing. The story was simple but it kept you interested 7.5/10 Rocket River
BLACKOUT - not much they could do with it. Played out pretty much like the description 5/10 - it was not the worse movie i'd scene but not overly original. Rocket River
Away From Her (2006) 8/10 A man has to see his wife, who has Alzheimer's, begin to love another man at the clinic where she lives. Damn good movie, but depressing as well. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) 8.5/10 I watched this because Alan Rickman was in it. It's a brilliant 16th century period movie which shows the lengths (whether good or bad) a man will go to achieve his wishes. If you like movies like Count of Monte Cristo or Les Miserables, this will be right up your alley.
Spoiler Hmmm... I assumed when watching it that the 'shifting' effect was simply a way to show that the other guy had has his ability to see clearly destroyed by looking directly into the sun at close range, and was therefore unable to see the people who were trying to hide from him. I believe it was the film's way to show what that character was actually seeing, and not that there was any actual otherworldly 'shifting' going on.
Spoiler I see what you are saying but once he released the sheild on the observation deck to full intensity it should have turned him to ash like his crew
Last night on Spike they had Rambo 4, then Rambo 2. No idea why they picked the worst order, but I watched those. I have never seen any Rambos before last night. They were...ok.
Watched District 9 for the first time on Saturday afternoon...I liked it. Didn't change my life, but I thought it was pretty well done. 7/10 Saw Dinner for Schmucks Sat night...fairly good. not my favorite. 7/10 Saw The Other Guys on Sun afternoon...that was funny...very funny. 8/10 Saw a documentary on netflix instant about Buddha last night...excellent! 9/10
Watched "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" this past weekend... enjoyed the hell out of it. There's some brutal stuff in the first 45 minutes, but it's a really, really good movie. American remake coming out in a few years.
The Road - I found the ending hard to believe. Maybe because I've seen the saddest animated film of all time in "Grave of the Fireflies" but this movie didn't tug on the heartstrings that much.
Have it on my netflix streaming need to finish that movie asap.. The sequel is out in theaters as well and I need to catch up and watch that, never read the books...
Brick - 9/10. Really liked this movie! JGL played his role very well. Runaways - 8/10. I liked this movie. Dakota Fanning is always fabulous. I can't stand Kristen Stewart but she was slightly better in this movie than other movies I've seen her.
Fanning and Michael Shannon were great in that, Stewart didn't really have that much to do outside of wear the same expression, and leather pants, the whole movie.
Yeah, he was insane in the movie. Forgot about that actor. She's always blah in the movies but thought she was a little bit better in this movie.
