Boyhood. 9/10 A brilliant flick by Richard Linklater. I had heard it was good going in, but it was far better than I expected. I see Oscar nominations in his future. Not that they are at all alike, but easily my favorite film from Linklater since Dazed and Confused.
I really want to see this! Unfortunately the closest theater showing it is fairly far away. It was advertised quite a bit, I'm surprised it's not in any of the big theaters around here. (Clear Lake area) Oh well I will make a trip sometime this week.
I saw it at our local Alamo Drafthouse in Southwest Austin. It's one of those flicks that stays with you, that you talk about after it's over. Well worth a bit of a drive, in my opinion. - An edit: Something that tripped me out after my significant other mentioned it. Look at the image below - In that image, doesn't the boy at least resemble Scarlett Johansson? It's freaky! From the neck up, obviously. ;-)-
Saw a movie called North Face the other night, based on a true story about a 4-man mountaineering team trying to be the first to ascend the North Face of the Eiger in 1936. Beautifully shot, thrilling and heartbreaking, it's easily the best mountaing climbing movie I've seen. 8/10
Just saw Sex Tape. Figured it would be stupid, figured it would be silly, figured it would be ridiculous, but we also figured it'd be at least a little sexy, and more than a little funny. Well, for the first half hour we enjoyed it. Then it went completely off the rails. A pity. 5.5/10
The Bucket List 9/10 I would have given it a perfect 10 but I'm not a fan of Jack Nicholson. You know .
Hercules. Meh, just a normal action clip. Nothing fancy or glorious feels. Planet of the apes. Same feeling. Transformers 4 my favorite so far. Last year was Prometheus and pacific rim.
