    So I really like rap and wanna get more exposure to both current and past artists. I'm sure there's a lotta good stuff out there that I haven't heard of yet. I wanna get a discussion going but under the rule that every post in this thread must include a (good) recent or past song of the genre.

    Anything by Tupac, Rakim, Outkast, Wu Tang Clan, etc.

    I can't stand any of the new music out there. Eminem is the only one I can rock to consistently and sometimes The Game.

    Funny, seeing how well the J. Cole thread goes I wanted to create a thread with the exact same name as the one you did. :grin:
    I'd leave out the "every post with a video" rule though, we can also discuss artists, albums and songs, state of rap here. The rule makes it too strict.


    Good songs, but Album of the year so far goes to Hassaan Mackey & Apollo Brown – Daily Bread. True rap right here. Please listen to the whole album, superb production and lyrics.

    Posted Doppelgangaz in the Cole thread, for the ones that didn't see it. Really remind me of Mobb Deep. Lone Sharks album is dope as hell, old school NY vibe. Also check out their albums "Beats for Brothels Vol. 1", more isntrumental music, wonderful listen. Their debut "2012: The Beginning" superb as well.

    Alright we can get rid of that rule then. I guess I just wanted that rule in there so I could hear all the people of discussion. Thinking about that now, I guess having a video in all the posts would sorta hinder the discussion, which would ruin the point.

    @Knote - Rakim is pretty awesome. Seems like rap was completely different back then in terms of style of rhyme and the beats used. Has a much older feel.

    What do y'all think of Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino? I'm really impressed with his writing and rapping considering he just does it as a hobby. Sorta reminds me a little of Weezy in the sense of the kinds of similes and allusions used but I find a lot of Gambino's are easier to make sense out of.
