This is just ridiculous. Please do some research, any research about why you might be right. You had one month to come up with arguments, and all you could come up with is "it just doesn't work"? Come on.

The last thing this team needs is a PG who holds the ball a lot, i.e. an Andre Miller type. No one should hold the ball a lot. Statistically, we are better when the ball doesn't get sticky. When we score more off assists. The problem is not that we need a PG, the problem is simply that we need to pass the ball around more efficiently, and that doesn't require us to have anyone better than Beverley and Lin.

If the issue was having a PG who can distribute, then we have Jeremy Lin who's a really unselfish player. You know why he doesn't work here? Because the last thing in the world this team needs is a guy who can't create better than Harden/Howard to hold on to the ball. Mind you, Lin is actually excellent at creating scoring opportunities via pick n roll. You know why we don't use that? Because it's the last thing we need in the world.

All we need from our PG is: don't turn it over, hit the open 3 and play solid D. That's it. Parsons is a great passer. Harden is a great passer. Lin and Beverley are decent passers. The team runs a lot, and we don't want the ball to stay in people's hands more than it does. How can the solution be to get a "true" PG? How does it help to have a guy bring it up and create passing opportunities unless that guy is a threat to score? Cool, let's get that guy. Oh, but Parsons, Harden and Jones are horrible defenders. So we need the guy to be a good defensive player too. Oh, and although this is a true PG we need him to keep the TO's down. Plus Harden and our PF's are not great 3 pt threats, and we need someone with Parsons to space the floor for Howard.

So we're looking for a guy who's a threat to score (must include 3pt shot), pure PG, can play D. Right, but Chris Paul ain't walking through that door so we have the next best fit, a guy who fills all our absolute needs and none of our luxuries: Mr Patrick Beverley.

I'm not looking for a guy like CP3 who holds onto the ball the entire game. I dont need a drive and dish guy either. I want someone who will take the ball upcourt, direct offensive traffic, keep everyone in the flow of the game. Harden just isnt suited for that. He is one of the leagues best scorers. I don't want to keep messing with his mindset. I want a floor general.

Beverly plays D, and hustles but is a liability on offense. Miller is too old at this point IMO, but a younger version of him would have worked quite well. Not asking for a superstar, just a vet PG who can provide stability on offense, and not be a liability on either end.

numbers wise, we were good, but with the way Harden struggled, how many points do you think we could have scored on the Spurs or Grizzlies?

I have watched this pitiful experiment for the past two seasons now and Harden as the primary ballhandler just doesn't work. We need a real effing PG. Don't even need a superstar, just someone like in Andre Miller mold. Yeah yeah, I know teams have won championships without PGs, but is Harden Jordan? is Harden Kobe? Is Harden even 2006 Wade? NO no and no. Harden is a superstar but he is not on those guys level.

Was reading Zach Lowes piece on Lance Stephenson today and thought I would point out a few things he brought up about Harden and his playmaking ability that would pretty much go against how you feel about his abilities in that category.

Throughout the article he keeps comparing Lances numbers to those of guys like Lebron, Paul, George and you guessed it James Harden. He shows some assist origin charts that you can look at in the article and CP3s looks amazingly similar to Hardens.

He also compares all of these guys numbers in creating assists within 10 and 5 feet from the rim.

You can do outside-in damage when your bigs can run and jump. And Stephenson’s assist chart isn’t so dramatically different from those of other creative players that it should make a team blanch. About 42 percent of his dimes led to a shot attempted within 10 feet of the rim, a number on par with those of LeBron (45 percent) and George (44 percent), and not so far from Paul’s figure (49 percent), per SportVU data.

The side note to this quote...

If you want to zoom in further, 36 percent of Stephenson’s assists led to shots within 5 feet of the rim. LeBron: 40 percent. George: 38 percent. Paul, shining here: 49 percent. James Harden was a monster by both of these measures.

It really is amazing to me how underrated Hardens playmaking ability is around here. He is one of the best in the league. There is a reason we put the ball in his hands.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Rocket's short term goal is not to win anything but to artificially ramp up Harden's stats so that they can obtain a third big name "star." There is no accountability and no team play. Harden can play zero D and still be on the floor for35+ minutes so that he can volume shoot to obtain good offensive stats.

I don't agree.

We need to get a solid player for Lin and Asik, and then user the cap room to get a third star (ie Rondo or Melo or Love etc), and then finally resign Parsons.

Harden will be fine..... The thing I believe will hold back this team in future postseasons is the "Moreyball" offense. With the lack of screens and player movement off the ball, I don't care who is on this team.

In regard to defense, Harden just needs to be held more accountable. Unlike say Kyrie Irving (I love him, a great offensive fit for "Moreyball", but the defense...), Harden's problem on defense is more coaching than anything else.

If the Rox are to get to the next level with the "Moreyball" offense, we need a rangy wing defender who can really disrupt passing lanes off screens. A Serge Ibaka or Kawhi Leonard type of player. But natural defenders just don't grow on trees.

I'm tired tired tired of watching this and wasting my time wondering about it because I know we ain't gonna win crap. Morey doesnt give a crap about PGs. We're not gonna win anything until we get a somewhat decent PG to handle the ball and let Harden just worry about scoring. I cant stand the Gorgi sploogefest but he had better handle and self confidence than Lin. Morey didn't think that was worth an extra year. Who knows where the hell we could have gone in the playoffs if Morey hadn't gotten such a boner about that 4th year.

Stupid effing metric analysis BS Just slap a bunch of numbers together and we'll win mentality. You know what's out identity? Shoot 3s, hope we get fouled, play crappy defense. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU WIN WITH THAT?!?!?!

Can we get a coach who will hold guys acountable on defense? can we rip up every stupid Excel sheet put together by some MIT egghead that says we should shoot 50 3s a game? Is there a way we can slap Morey upside the head with videos of decent PGs like Kenny Smith or Sam Cassell? Guys who werent superstars but could control the pace or move the ball around?

I can't go through another season of waiting for the next big free agent to come onboard. Every damn year, it's wait for the next big FA to complete our team and then and then we'll go for it. WTH gonna happen after we get Love or Melo? Oh look, Harden's contract is coming up soon. Damn he getting old, time to get rid of him and look for the next one.

Some stability, every damn season for the last 3 or 4 years I've asked for this. This isn't NBA 2K. Tired of this, so damn tired of it. Did Morey not watch our games this past season? Harden and Howard DO NOT MESH. It's so effing obvious. Dwight's great at finishing and Hardens got a deadly long range game so they should be killing on the pick and roll right? HELL NO! takes too much away from our launch 50 3s a game approach!!

I hate hate hate hate the way this tam is put together haphazardly every single effing year. We sat through 2 seasons of BS hoarding assets and picks for what? So we can do more hoarding and trading? WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GONNA HAVE A REAL FUNCTIONING TEAM WITH ACCOUNTABILITY ON DEFENSE, AND A PG WHO CAN LET HARDEN BE HARDEN.

They NEED Rondo!!!!!!! They don't need Love or Carmelo. That's a nice ticket sell, but that won't improve their record much

I think the reason we won't win something big real soon are:

Management and team, everyone is not on the same page. Fk those reports that say the whole team is tight, practicing together every month

The West is just too crowded. A championship caliber Clippers IMO cannot get out of the 2nd round

38 year old Duncan and 36 old Ginobili playing like they are 25 and 28. Some ridiculous ****.

Even the Mavericks have more chemistry in the playoffs.

Lebron will always be in the Finals until he is maybe 34+
