i really don't get why someone whose inability to create a decent half court offense set was a lot of the reason we failed to get out of the first round with 2 superstars over and over again gets so much love.
I don't think Adelman was really much better with his in game coaching than Mchale is. He was better at drawing up offenses but I can still remember his insistence of playing the starting 5 at crunch time no matter what, even when we had guys going off on the bench and the starters couldn't hit a thing. JVG is interesting. He mainly had a two man team, would of been interesting to see what he would do with the deeper rosters of recent years. Would he still have been ultra defensive? Mchale is simply just god awful... as most people thought before he became our coach and now everyone certainly does.
Rockets top 5: 1) Bill Fitch 2) Rudy T 3) Don Chaney 4) Adelman 5) JVG McHale is a publicity stunt and my guess is Morey picked him for his personality and ability to talk about toughness meanwhile being soft on guys and creating a baby environment. Protecting them, holding their hand, not holding them accountable. I.e. Morey is tanking and did it with the best candidate he could find.
