Is it weird that a guy I want is Larry Nance Jr? I like him as a backup and just think it would be lots of fun to see that guy receiving passes from Harden and Paul. His advanced stats look pretty good too.
They traded us a Non guaranteed scrub contract (or 2?) needed in order to meet he necessary salary for the trade in return for a small amount of cash
Not weird at all... would love to see this guy in Rockets' Red... but alas I think Lakers are going to tie him to a bad contract + want a 1st rounder for him.
No they really don't need to shed that contract ... that is assuming a 3rd star (Lebron) is a real option this offseason. If that's the case then they NEED that contract or a similar one to facilitate bringing in that 3rd star , without that contract or one of similar value they cannot bring in that type of player. Without Anderson's contract , what do you have that gets you remotely close to 33m?
It would have to be backup 5 because he is dreadful from deep. But then he’s undersized but at least athletic. I mean his role would pretty much bet that of Blacks but I’m not sure he’s better. More athletic sure, better potential yeah, but not as polished as a player at least defensively. At least when it comes to recognition and defensive IQ. So sure for that role I wouldn’t mind a little extra “upside” but at what cost? They don’t want Black back and he’s the only “significant” player I see the rockets trading.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7nuucdk Chicago gets: Kemba Walker Ryan Anderson Charlotte gets: Kris Dunn Troy Williams Chicago 2018 2nd Rounder Houston 2018 2nd Rounder Houston gets: Marvin Williams Nikola Mirotic Charlotte gets to roll the dice on a replacement for Walker in Dunn, who's playing a lot better this season than last after getting out of Minnesota. He's still on his rookie contract. They also effectively dump $25 million in salary next year without any significant salaries coming back. Chicago gets a former All-Star to pair in the backcourt with Lavine and build their own trio with Lauri. They take back Anderson's contract but that's the price you pay to rid yourself of a playing wanting out (Mirotic) and to move salaries to a team that can absorb it in Houston. Houston reloads to get not only one but two PFs for the postseason, both of whom have shot well this year from 3. Even if Mirotic bolts next year, you still have Marvin under contract at a significantly less salary than Anderson. Chicago gets their All-Star; Charlotte rebuilds with a young player, picks and more cap room, and Houston gets two PF that further deepens the team's roster.
I feel like we would have to throw in a first just to make it worthy for ATL to take that contract. Would Dedmon take over as backup center and/or would it also make Capela more expendable?
Bulls and Hornets would cut out the Rockets so fast, Morey's head would spin. We're contributing nothing in the trade.
I think we would have to gibe them second rounder and maybe T. W. but definitely fair value for both sides
Starters: Paul - Harden - Ariza - Ilyasova - Capela Rotation: Gordon - Mbah Moute -Tucker - Dedmon Bench: Green - Bellinelli - Nene - Black -Qi One spot open for FA signing. Ersan is a similar player to Ryno at a fraction of the cost, Dedmon provides an athletic rim-runner like Capela (and some insurance should he price himself out of our range) and Bellineli can come in and shoot (mainly injury depth). We now have four rotation-quality bigs each capable of providing a different look ala GSW. We lose Ryno, a first rounder and a second rounder, and some young guys in T-Will and Onuaku. Does ATL bite? What other playoff teams could offer more/less toxic of a contract?
With all the discord in the Cavs right now...would it be a good idea, to try to get Kevin Love? Positives: - He's 28, so still in his prime - Love wouldn't have to play the 5 (where he's terrible in CLE right now, because of it) - Love's play is more versatile than Ryno - Instantly becomes our best post player, and can do more in the post to help Capela - With Capela and Love, opens up the PnR / PnP game for our HoF guards Negatives: - Might take us out of the LeBron sweepstakes (but we don't know if LeBron is even thinking about joining us) - Rings especially if true if LeBron doesn't like Love. - Love is signed until 2020 (as is Ryno), so if Love sucks and we wanna trade him away, we'll have the same problem as finding a suitor for Ryno.
No question you would rather have Kevin Love than Ryan Anderson. He's a better rebounder than Anderson and a similar three-point shooter. But I don't see why Cleveland would do that... you'd have to give them something to make it worth their while. If he wasn't part of the "clique", I'd say Ariza, but that can't/won't happen.
