I think we probably don't know it, tbh. Varejao's health issues haven't been chronic so far. A bunch of very different unrelated injuries.

Do you mean he's perceived as having less value by the Cavs? That might be true, even though the Cavs have placed a lot of value on Varejao for years, judging by trade rumors. But what's your point? The trade idea wasn't Varejao for Asik, it was Varejao + a top 10-12 protected pick for Asik. You have to compare value of these trade packages, not just individual players.

The Wilson Chandler idea interest me. There is a deal on B.R. (I know) that has a three team trade with the Nuggets, Rockets and Celtics.

I would hate to give up Jones, especially on how he is playing recently. Maybe DMo instead? But I've always like Wilson's game even when he was on the Knicks. If we ran a starting group with Bev, Harden, Parsons, Chandler and Howard that group would be very dangerous as it is pretty balanced and can just run on every opportunity. Wilson is pretty good defensively, too. Or if we want to start Arthur and have a more traditional starting unit and Arthur's game can complement Howard's because he is a capable mid range shooter. Plus then Wilson can come off the bench and we would have great bench group. The only problem would be back up center.

You forgot Fournier at Denver out, i think. Or he shouldn't be at NY in.

That deal looks about fair, which is impressive considering how big it is. But there are so many moving parts, and especially so many young guys that their own teams tend to overvalue, that I wonder if GMs would ever coming to an agreement on that.

I also wonder about JR Smith's trade value. He is not healthy now, and his contract has 3 years and a trade kicker. Would Denver rather have Fournier or JR Smith? I suspect Fournier. Would Denver want JR Smith at all, for free? Given their history and JR character questions, I'm not sure.

Maybe a smaller deal between Houston, Denver and Philly along the lines you drew?
    Denver gets Omer Asik
Houston gets Wilson Chandler and Thad Young
Philly gets Motiejunas, Ronnie Brewer and Houston's 2014 pick

Houston Rockets IN: Ersan Ilysova & Spencer Hawes

Milwaukee Bucks IN: Omer Asik & Evan Turner

Philadelphia 76ers IN: Caron Butler, Donatas Montiejunes, 2014 (lottery protected) 1st round pick via Bucks.

Thats good. But my gut instinct is Butler is home in Milwaukee to retire. I think Milwaukee would take a flyer on Evan Turner possibly but they would probably prefer to send out someone else besides Butler.

But Ilyasova and Hawes for Asik, DMo, whoever is a trade I would love to see.

I just figured no matter what, Morey will somehow get a backup Center out of the deal.

Maybe instead of Butler: Udoh (1yr/~$4m) and Ridnor (1yr/~$4m)

Nuggets/Knicks/Rockets (Must wait till 15th Jan)

To Denver: Asik, NYK future 2nd Round pick.
Why? Denver gets a solid, reliable starting Center. Who knows when McGee will return and if he will ever be a reliable starting center, he is more likely to be an impact off the bench like last year with George Karl.

    Lawson/Robinson
    Fournier
    Chandler/Randolf
    Gallinari/Arthur
    Asik/McGee

    To NYK: Faried
Why? Recent rumor suggests the Knicks are looking to acquire Faried. For the cost of Shumpert and a 2nd rounder is a fair price.

    Felton/Prigioni
    JRSmith/Hardaway Jr
    Anthony/World Peace
    Faried/Stoudemire
    Chandler/Bargnani

    To Rockets: Shumpert, Mozgov
Why? Gives the Rockets a backup center and a decent perimeter defender. A nice balanced lineup. The Rockets can then drop Brewer who seems to not have cracked the lineup due to being terrible on offense/shooting.

    Beverley/Lin
    Harden/Shumpert
    Parsons/Garcia
    Jones/Casspi
    Howard/Mozgov

    Alternate to my previous post.

    To Rockets: Wilson Chandler, Mozgov

    Beverley/Lin
    Harden/Garcia
    Parsons/W.Chandler
    Jones/Casspi

    Suns/Bucks/Rockets

    To Suns: Asik, Luke Ridnour
Why? Get a legitimate starting center to build with. Ridnour is an expiring (throw in)

    Bledsoe/Ridnour
    Dragic/Green
    Marcus Morris/Tucker
    Markieff Morris/Fry
    Asik/Len

To Bucks: Okafor, D-Mo, 2015 Suns top 6 protected 1st round draft pick
Why? Get a pick for Ilyasova while freeing up space for Henson to start. Another prospect in D-Mo. Okafor is an expiring to complete the trade.

    Knight/Wolters
    Mayo/Neal
    Antetokounmpo/Butler
    Henson/D-Mo/Udoh
    Sanders/Pachulia

    To Rockets: Ilyasova, Plumlee
Why? Rockets get their stretch 4 that can defend and rebound. DocRocket has given some clues suggesting that Ilyasova is a Rockets target player. Also Plumlee has shown some great rebounding and shot blocking this season and could be a great backup to Howard to shore up the 2nd unit's defense at the rim.

    Beverley/Lin
    Harden/
    Parsons/Garcia
    Ilyasova/Jones/Casspi
    Howard/Plumlee/Jones

Potential Trade Scenarios for Omer Asik

I was just wondering what deals my fellow Rockets' fans were conjuring up in their busy imaginations. :) (Realistic scenerios only, please!) My own personal dream scenario would be:

    Houston: Ilyasova, Withey

Why would the Rockets do it?
    - Clear frontcourt clutter.
    - Acquire a young, proven stretch Forward.
    - Acquire a young, defensive-minded, backup Center.

Milwaukee: Evans, Roberts, 2nd Round Pick (Houston)

Why would the Bucks do it?
    - Clear back court clutter.
    - Acquire a young, starter-caliber Guard/Forward.
    - Acquire a young, competent, backup Point Guard.
    - Acquire draft picks.

    New Orleans: Asik, Ridnour

Why would the Pelicans do it?
    - Clear frontcourt clutter.
    - Acquire a top 5 defensive and rebounding Center.
    - Move Davis to his natural position.
    - Acquire a competent Point Guard that also provides veteran experience.

They traded away Gortat for a pick. They aren't going to now turn around and trade a pick and Plumlee for Asik.

    Asik for Davis!

    why we do it?
because I really love his game.

    why the pelicans do it?
They will need a big man to replace his departure.

    win win for errrbody.

    Houston IN: Ersan Ilyasova

Celtics IN: Omer Asik, Ekpe Udoh, Luke Ridnour, Brandon Knight, and 2014 unprotected 1st round pick via Bucks

Bucks IN: Rajon Rondo, Gerald Wallce

Houston gets the PF they need.

Celtics get a top big man, an unprotected 1st round pick, expiring contracts, and get rid of the Wallace contract.

Bucks get the PG they want and have a young team to build around.
