Doesn't that require parsons' agent and the rockets FO to trust each other that parsons will be resigned and that chandler won't walk? Like isnt there a technicality where we have to renounce parsons and sign him later?
Rockets would not have to renounce their Bird Rights to him. He would have a small cap hold. However, he will be an unrestricted free agent. Parsons would be able to sign elsewhere if he chooses. Rockets will have to trust that having three stars, being his home for 4 years, and offering more money than anyone else will be enough. Parsons will have to decide between less money, having to move, and being beat by Rockets versus staying for money with Rockets.
You are right about the Omer-Dirk nightmare, but still Ersan Ilyasova would be the perfect (no hyperbole) PF we could get(KLove and LMA are more ball dominant than him ), reliable jumpshooter, tough guy, excellent rebounder, good basketball IQ. And he looks like James Franco.
Portland has agreed to terms with Mo Williams today. Fhis means that C.J. McCullom, their 2013 lottery pick, may not make the team's rotation this season, and is likely bait in Portland's quest for a legit starting C (Omer Asik?). McCullom is a good ballplayer. A three-way deal (which I have suggested before) wherein Asik goes to PDX, Thaddeus Young goes to Houston, and a McCullom-centered package is now even more workable. Although I don't believe McCullom is eligible to be traded for a while. Does anybody know when he becomes eligible to be traded? Also, please don't suggest trades for David Lee! No way does Daryl Morey want to trade for his bloated contract.
I disagree. Portland has been talking about putting CJ next to Lillard in the STARTING rotation which could mean Matthews is on the outs. This is the most likely trade that could go down involving Houston and Portland.
Whoops.. my bad. Hit post too soon.. here is the trade. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=krc4uxb
The last thing Milwaukee needs is more bigs, and Granger to Matthews is a huge downgrade for the Pacers. Don't see this going down at all.
Milwaukee needs a backup C. By acquiring Asik, they could start Sanders at the 4. It would be more effective for them going into rebuilding mode. Matthews is a very solid player. He is a pretty good shooter and an even better defender. Indi could slide George to the 3. Matthews would help guard the likes of Dwyane Wade in the East finals.
Not so sure they want to start Sanders at the 4. It seems like they see him as the defensive anchor, and I think he is already a very, very good one. Also they signed Zaza as a backup C so they aren't going to pay him $5 million a year to be the 3rd string C. Not arguing with the fit for Matthews, but Granger is on a another level as a player so Indiana won't give up a guy who was a star before his injury for a good role player just because of fit.
Plus they have Henson, Ilyasova, and Udoh at PF so there's not much room to move Larry over there when they are already full of talent at the position. They're looking to develop Henson to be the long term guy there so Larry will stay at C I'd say.
Put this in the tread about Pekovic possibly being shopped with Minnesota not willing to pay for him so I might as well throw it over here too. We don't want him, but NO definitely would. Here's a decent S&T scenario: Minnesota In: Omer Asik, Terrence Jones (or D-Mo), Austin Rivers New Orleans In: Nikola Pekovic Houston In: Ryan Anderson, Derrick Williams This locks down our PF rotation really nicely. Minnesota gets good value for a guy they don't particularly want to keep for the money he's asking. NO gets their center, and a good fit with a slender Anthony Davis to have a bruiser inside to take some pressure off of him and let him play PF. We run with, more or less, this rotation: Lin/Beverley/Brooks Harden/R. Williams/Garcia Parsons/Garcia/Casspi Anderson/D. Williams/D-Mo Howard/Camby/Smith
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mwts94c A lot of people think Pek is going to get $15M. I have noticed a lot of players haven't been getting the money they want. This trade includes picks. We could do this as an S&T and use $8M of the cap room we have (after this trade) to sign Pek to a long term deal. This works perfectly. Lin fits alongside Mayo very well as does Asik next to Love.
just a few random thoughts: - Pek has been offered ~12 mil a year (according to the Wolves' owner), but he's not in a rush to take it, they are still negotiating details. - if this is a sign and trade, you don't need cap space to sign Pekovic, you can just give him the 12 mil or whatever. - Do you want a Pekovic-Howard combo? Or is the plan to trade Pek later? If the plan is to play them together, i don't love it. But obviously, the deal overall is an upgrade in assets, so I could see Morey doing it. - this trade doesn't look fair to the Bucks (Henson looks too good a prospect to give up in a trade like this) - like it for the Wolves. They lose in terms of assets, but fit makes sense. Udoh is an interesting idea, btw. Maybe they should go and offer some protected pick for Udoh? I can't see Milwaukee refusing that. Udoh would be a very nice fit as a backup big for 'Sota.
Seriously just trade Asik, what's the point of paying a backup-center more than 8 mil, that's stupid and Omer is way too good and skilled to play limited minutes and if it wouldn't for him we wouldn't made the playoffs last season. So please make a deal that benefits Omer and the Rockets Morey!!
Yeah, what's the point in waiting for a good deal that actually makes sense when you could trade Omer now?
