trade everybody except k-low and parsons, but if the other team wants those 2 involved for an allstar go ahead and trade them , tired of this role players
I didn't look at the salaries, but something like: Budinger, Terrence Williams, and Jordan Hill for Omer Asik and Brewer. Bulls get offensive talent and "upside" (hehe), and we get two strong defenders. Frankly, I'd do the deal for Asik alone. Bulls probably wouldn't.
Martin to Minny trade scenario: Houston send Martin to the Twolves who send back Ridnour, Beasley and the future protected pick of the Utah Jazz (lottery protected this season, top 12 protected next season, after that the pick is unprotected but they acquire the Twolves pick in exchange...so, in that event, Houston could give their pick to Minnesota, Minnesota to Utah and Utah to Houston...its complex, but it works) Anyway, Houston, not wanting or needing Ridnour and Beasley, would then turn them around to get a back up 5 to replace Hill. There are several teams who could use a point gaurd and a young scorer and who would give up a serviceable backup center or a protected 1st round pick. Thus, in this scenario, we would move Martin and get the future protected 1st rounder of Utah as well as either a better backup center or another protected 1st rounder.
You guys are severely overrating the value of our players. K-Mart for their starting SG Ridnour; Beasley, who can drop 20/10 every night and has tremendous upside being only 22. Plus a valuable pick....for K-Mart??? Martin is nearly 29, plays no D, can only score. This wouldn't make any sense for Minny. Like you said, many teams would want a good PG(Ridnour) and a young scorer with big upside. The pick has great value as well, so Minny can get way more in return for that package.
Beasley is not that good. The reason he gets 20 pts is because he jacks up so many shots that are uncalled for. And he's another headcase. They'd be glad to get rid of him especially when Williams is there.
But you don't trade that kind of guy when he is 22, has huge upside. Plus solid starting SG Ridnour and a pick....all that for K-Mart, who is one of the most one-dimensional and worst defensive players in the league?
I disagree -- here is the logic, as I see it, from the Twolves perspective: 1) Ridnour is not a 2 guard, he is playing the 2 gaurd out of position because Rubio is so good that he supplanted Ridnour at the point, and because they do not have a shooting guard. Ridnour is further expendable because they have Barea. 2) Beasley is also expendable from a Twolves perspective. He plays the exact same position (tweener forward) as their high faluting draft pick Derrick Williams (so he is stealing minutes from Williams, who, by the way, fits better with Rubio). If they could replace Beasley's scoring with a player who plays a position of need for them (Martin), and one who is an Adelman guy and excels in that offensive system, then Martin over Beasley is a huge upgrade -- especially considering what Williams can give them in the minutes now vacated by Beasley. So, the question then is, would Minnesota pay a highly protected 1st rounder in order to turn a redundant point guard and a redundant tweener forward into a 2 guard (by far their weakest position), and one that happens to be a perfect for their coach's offensive system? This is why this is a great trade opportunity -- it helps both teams. Houston gets more value from Minny then they could get elsewhere because the parts they are getting are not as valued/ needed by the Twolves as Martin is.
But T-Wolves ain't no contender right now, they have a few years til they'll be relevant and can figure out headcases like Beasley until that happens. Trading for a 29-year old non-defense guy just seems dumb to me, that move is short-sighted and doesn't help them in the future. K-Mart is a guy a contender would want if they need a last scoring piece.
They don't have a pick in this draft so they might as well be competitive. And what's the point of having Beasley who doesn't play well at all the RA offense when you have Derrick Williams? And Beasley's defense isn't good at all. Too slow for 3s, too small for 4s. There's a reason Minny fans want him gone.
Well, they don't have a draft pick this off-season, and I think they can reasonably look to compete for a playoff spot next year. Remember, teams don't go from being garbage to title contenders overnight, they almost always go through a playoff contender stage first. Martin would help them with that process. It seems like a smart trade for them to me, especially since they are giving up players they don't really need/want that much in return.
The Wolves would give Michael Beasley away for free If they could find the right deal... The Adelman connection makes Kevin Martin EXTREMELY valuable in a Minnesota deal. Kevin Martin in a Princeton is a top 5 SG...
