Look at this...
http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0509/1380784.html

Makes me sick that the Rockets wasted the chance to draft him by selecting:
Bryce Drew (still not an NBA level player)
Mirsad Turckan (not even in the NBA - never played a game for the Rockets)

I say if Rudy and CD draft yet another big, slow white guy or some European spot-up shooter instead of the most athletic, talented guy, it is time for both of them to go....

People forget that the team that won the championships was built by Steve and Ray Patterson, and every player on those two teams played IN THE NBA for many years after they left the Rockets. (See Tracy Murray, Pete Chilcutt, Matt Bullard, Mario Elie, Otis Thorpe, Robert Horry, etc...).

Rudy has picked a LOT of duds since taking over draft duties. In my opinion, this is put up or shut up time, in other words, put up a decent draft or shut up and go home.

Yeah, but what's funny is the Rockets had the best look at him, had three picks, and he was a hometown prospect. Obviously, all those other teams that passed on him screwed up, too. That doesn't bail out the Rockets, in my opinion.

Good one, Live.

I'd agree that maybe people are getting a little disgruntled around here, but GEEZ, were you in a coma the past two seasons or what???

Man, don't forget we could've had Hakeem, Jordan, Drexler, Hakeem (yes a second time), Wilt, Oscar Robertson, Pete Maravich, Magic, Bird, McHale, Jabbar, Gilligan, Skipper, Alf, Hitler, Ali Landry, the Rockettes, Moses, Jesus, and Wilbur and Orville Wright on THE SAME FREAKIN' TEAM if we hadn't turned down the Blazers offer back in 1984. Man, the Rockets' front office sucks.

Hindsight is 20/20. Deal with it. Otherwise, we could play the "What if?" game for days.

What if Rudy was never born?
What if Clutch wasn't tech savvy?
What if I didn't eat that Burger King sandwich for lunch?

No DoD-

They could've taken Jesus THIS year. We had 3 picks. Unfortunately, the Spurs took him.

You know, if we had drafted Rashard, we probably would have had to trade him anyways. Vancouver would have asked for 2 of the 3(Cat, Rashard, Dickerson) for Francis. Maybe they would have given us a little bit more than just Francis then. But who? I dont know. Maybe all three of them for Francis and Rahim? This is too many ifs.
They still screwed up, but I look at it the positive way, that we now have Francis and Eddie, and if things had gone differently, maybe we wouldnt have them.

It's okay cause Rashard's gonna win a championship before the Rockets ever do again.

Rashard Lewis = Robert Horry w/o the defense.

Yes, it sucks the Rockets didn't get him, but come on Do we still have to hear about it FOUR YEARS LATER?

As far as draft gaffes go, its not good, but its not the cataclismic failure its painted as.

Did anyone actually read that article?

The max for Rashard amounts to a cool 14.5 mil per season for seven seasons. I'd be thrilled to have Rashard on the Rockets, but for that kind of money? That's almost double what we gave Mo T. I'd rather have Rashard than Mo T, particularly given our depth at the 4 versus the 3, but not at double the price. Rashard would be the highest paid person on this team. Forget that.
