Do you also get annoyed when people ask you if you have ever eaten pork, can eat during Ramadan if you are in the shade or have a solar eclipse, or ask who Allah is and how many of them do we have? Though to their defense, we live in a Christian dominant country and they are not well educated on the religion of Islam. For you non Muslims out there, we welcome you into our homes and our lives to learn and get accustomed to us.
I thought you could eat pork... just not COW. WTF?!?!? Man, I need some geography lessons... and a cultural shock.
Don't be annoyed - use the opportunity to cross cultural bridges and educate. Why don't you eat pork? Why can't you eat during Ramadan, etc, etc - if you're already offering a defense and a reason, then get out, shake hands, be friendly and open. Don't wait til' they come into your homes or lives. You're already in their lives so if asked the questions and offered the opportunity, make use of it!
Lol for sure brother. I just made the thread because everyone else made a thread. this thread wanted to fit in with the melting pot that is Clutchfans Hangout
why are people who aren't christian referred to as "non-christians" but muslims have to call people who aren't muslim "non-muslims" its almost as if they're beneath you
I didnt really understand your connection between the first two parts of your statement, seems like the same thing to me. And no, not beneath us. I only used it as it is just the common terminology. If it bothers you I can change it. I can say people of a different religion than Muslims, or something along those lines.
why is it the common terminology? things to ponder.. it doesnt bother me, personally. just on a scale of "wtf is this religion thing and why is everyone so wrapped in it"
Well it saves time from saying all the other religions one by one, but I guess I could have said everyone else, but I am sure that would have offended somebody as well.
if we're airing grievances, then whoever came up with the word "Islamist" is an idiot. It makes no sense. It was probably someone who didn't pay attention in World Geography.
Muslims are less than 1% of Americans. They're an obscure oddity to most, except for when they make the news for various reasons...
Actually Christians and Jews are referred to as People of the Book. What do we call people who aren't American Citizens? Aliens... lol, personally that's worse than non-Americans.
Well how do you feel about calling homosexual people "gay"? That word used to mean happy, but not all gays are happy people. think about that.
