Yeah, that sounds awful. Just look at all of the Texans 3rd round draft picks, only maybe 2-3 of them even became ok starters. I sure as hell wouldn't want to give up our franchise's best ever player just for that.
Jax: 2-12, nope Oak: 2-12, nope Min: 6-8, we were one pick away from taking Teddy, then Minn. traded into that last pick of the first rd and picked him up right before we had the chance.
Maybe, depending on what the Rams do, make a run at Sam Bradford? I hate that he's coming off of an injury but in a different system with better weapons he could be a bargain.
Let's trade all of our picks Ditka-style for the No.1 pick overall. Otherwise, Rick Smith will just end up missing on those picks, anyway.
Mallet showed enough command and accuracy when we played the browns and he was healthy. I say we re sign Mallet, keep Fitzpatrick because he mentored Mallet well and draft for talent and let camp play out. But I think Mallet is the guy.
I wouldn't make a big commitment to him. He's still an unknown. Keenum looked good in his first couple of games too. And Fitzpatrick had an outstanding game the week after Mallett went down. We don't know if what we saw in Cleveland was what we can consistently expect from Mallett or just an aberration.
I think it was the start of our line finally understanding the scheme and blocking properly. With time any qb can look good but he looked spectacular. Even when he was injured, he had time to throw and made throws. I believe if he didn't get hurt we make the playoffs on his arm and the line protection. I guess we'll never know but I'd love to see what he'd do with a full camp
I think alot of yall are failing to realize that Mallett tore his pectoral muscle which could drastically reduce his arm strength... there is no way we can go into next season relying on him to be our QB
One of the key aspects of a good QB is their ability to make those around him look good. That oline that day had the highest rating of any oline this year, partly due to his very quick release but also to his leadership in making sure players were in their assigned places. Iow, his knowledge could continue to train them! Texans need him back.
I'd look hard too...and then once i realized it was in fact Jay Cutler, I would have security escort him away.
lol so let's have jay cutler, robert jr. jr., mallet and savage in camp, last man not injured gets the job.
I hope we do what Wash did when they traded up for RG3. We need to get into the top 2-3 if we want a QB worth anything in this draft. I'm a big Mariota guy. I think he's worth what it would take to trade up.
