Fangraphs had an interesting read today on prospect valuation. Appel, based on last year's Baseball America ranking, would have about a 19 million dollar surplus value. I suspect he would jump up into the Top 11-25 range at least in the 2015 list which would raise his value in this article to about 25 million. If you believe in things like surplus value and that Hamels is on a fair contract, the Phillies should at least be kicking in 25 million if this rumor has teeth.
