I mean for him requesting a trade last minute, he got a haul. Things didn’t workout cool but he got a nice return to reprogram!!!!
@Rocket River you seem to be undervaluing Shai. 24 ppg, 5 rpg, 6 apg shooting 40%+ from three with a 22 per in his age 22 season is frankly incredible. If Jalen Green gave us that in his third year we’d be ecstatic. Yes it still needs to translate to wins, to being THE guy, etc. he’s not Luka or Trae… but this is the nba in 2021. CP3 got a 4 year mega contract and he was drafted in the 1800s or something. if I’m OKC I’m kind of pissed at the draft hoarding for no reason. I wouldn’t have a problem with the Shai contract.
Why? We'd likely be paying that amount to Green. There's a lot of money this offseason but no FAs to soend it on. Gonna have a lot of overpaid guys headlined by Cp3 and Duncan Robinson.
Wow. SGA is a borderline all-star. The type of player who if he makes it you say okay, and if he doesn't it's hard to say he was snubbed. Maybe he'll step up and be this amazing player going forward, but he's definitely not a max guy right now.
He just turned 23 years old. I'm thinking he'll make at least one All-Star team before that contract is over.
Yeah, thought he would have been better by now. He sure didn't blow up to the 25 pt plateau just yet.
He is averaging great stats. It's not his fault that the FO's plan is to accumulate as many draft picks as possible, rather than actually start building a team to win. If OKC is going to continue being a dumping ground for other teams to disregard unwanted contracts, then I'm glad Shai got his money. The way he is playing right now, he is definitely becoming a max contract player. I wonder how he will look this coming season.
The kid has only played 3 seasons in the NBA. The first was a rookie on a Clippers team that started Gortat, Shamet, Gallo and Avery Bradley at various points during the season. The second season was where he finally got heavy minutes and had more opportunities to score. This past season he took the leap. 23.7 ppg is not that far off the 25 pt plateau, while playing good defense and shooting 50/41/80 from the floor before he got injured.
if Shai’s deal is crazy to people, I wonder what their reaction will be when they see what we re-sign Christian Wood for
