Maybe you just can’t see through those rose colored glasses. He was ran down multiple times by Dlineman.
Nothing wrong with it. Arm matters more than anything. I just don’t like pretending players are something they’re not. He has his strengths, athleticism isn’t one of them
To me there are three types of QBs; 1) Statues - QBs who are pocket passers and who are not mobile; Tom Brady and Matt Schaub 2) Mobile - QBs who are pocket passers but has the ability to escape the pocket when they feel the pressure; Dak Presscott, DeShaun Watson, Pat Mahommes, Daniel Jones AND CJ Stroud 3) Elusive QBs - QBs who use their legs, as much as the use their arm as weapons; Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson and Anthony Richardson.

Agreed he is not athletic. He did seem to improve on his pocket presence and sensing pressure. Un-athletic pocket qbs can become outstanding qbs if they can master that skill and get the ball out quickly, like Brady and Peyton. Let’s hope Stroud can emulate them over the years and become a really good pocket qb
That is absolutely the hope. I do think he has more athleticism than those two. But it’s all relative. The league is a lot more athletic at QB overall
Every rookie not named Young has thrown a pick. Bryce is getting lit up by the defense like it's a playoffs game lol. He has every starter out there with him. They should really take him out of the game. What gets me is The pre game show with Sean and Stoener saying teams are vanilla during pre season, Stroud won't see a blitz.. Yeah all through the mid 2000s. Hoody, Saleh and San Fran don't hold back when attacking the qb. Kind of like it. Still perplexed as to why they would put Stroud under center with everyone on Vacay. Keenum with the most experience should have gone first with Stroud and Mills finishing it. Edit: Bryce going a quarter +

“The struggles of the offensive line undercut Young's debut. Despite playing four starters, Carolina got no push in the run game, and the QB was regularly pressured.”
History repeats itself... This preseason seems to strongly indicate that not all 1st rd QB picks should be opening day starters.. Carolina should be ashamed of themselves for putting Bryce in that position off the rip.. Texans too honestly.. But at least we have a more complete team.. Sit their asses down for till midseason..
This is how I think of it as well. There's top speed, quickness and "wiggle". We've seen guys who ran a 5+ sec 40 time with no top end speed slip tackles. That's wiggle. Remember when Barry Sanders used to catch flak for getting caught from behind? But he had next level quickness and burst. Then there are straight line speed burners that don't have the other traits. Lamar, Vick and to an extent RGIII were freaks and have/had all three. CJ is not fast and he's not an exceptional NFL athlete. But he's mobile enough to create space, scramble and get out of the pocket. If he delivers with the arm, good reads and decisions I think he's more than mobile enough to be successful.
That’s fair, but don’t expect that to be the norm. He’s not very good throwing on the run, he has to improve throwing off platform
