Thats not a bad idea. Samuel is a ballhawk and is an instant upgrade over Harris.

I'd rather roll the dice with one of the four QB's coming out this year. They all look like they can play. I think it'd be stupid to invest in a QB this year. I think our record we be 4-12.

Easy to explain. Peyton wasn't in the AFC South for two years.

It's obvious after pre-season week #1, the Pats, 49ers, and Texans will be the worst teams and the Cardinals should be SB favorites.

    Meh, that's not exactly true.

The inept Kubiak traded for Schaub, and for 5 years Schaub played near or at a Pro Bowl level. Now we have 3 guys who aren't even a poor man's Schaub.

Washington traded up for RGIII. Rams got quite a haul from that.

Boldin and Alex Smith were other decent players who got moved recently

I'm not necessarily saying the Texans should have done a ton of moves. I just wonder what their plan is. Did they expect to take the same personnel and improve with better coaching? Are they just waiting to have more cap room so they can sign free agents, whenever that is?

And the Texans did move up to take an injured player in the 3rd round. Maybe moving down for depth would have been a better move?

You can't say the Cardinals are good when they demolished an inept Texans team.

Bumbling for Hundley? He's the one I want, and I don't think we'd need a top 5 pick to get him.

Their regular season record for their first year (with those teams)? I did not. I suppose I could at some point later today? :)

You have predominately spoke about non contract trades (draft picks) where a team can absorb salary and/or another team can take a salary cap "hit" just to acquire talent because they have a bough available space under the "hard cap." The flexibility in the NFL is much more stringent than the nba, and most if not all people who say "just trade them" are ignorant to the financial complications. The texans are still paying matt scrub for instance and that affects their bottom line. Their is a much more delicate path to follow in the nfl, and there are very few "cap exceptions." So...in summation, anyone who suggests a trade without knowing the actual ramifications of that trade for current and future cap purposes is ignorant and can not be taken seriously.

Also, they knew, or at least had to know that they were mailing in this season to an extent. There was not a "drew brees" on the market nor did they have the cap space to get a "drew brees" because rick smith (in summation) is a joke. Part 2 is that they clearly did not like the "upside" of any of the top quarterbacks..so they are playing the waiting game and selling the fans a story if redemption... Which many have bought.

Well if tanking is the plan, then that's the plan.

Apparently Rick Smith screwed up our capspace, which was my point. We are rolling out the same personnel because we have no flexibility to do anything else.

Only if you have time sir. And just for the 1st time NFL head coaches. I know it wouldn't be any indication of what the Texans will do this year but "just in case" we don't have a good year it may keep some of us from flipping out over O'Brien because I believe the success rate for 1st time head coaches isn't that great.

I'm glad you see it to that point, it's just a truly sad state of affairs (at least in the hobby of liking football) to have an owner try to sell a point of "not being that far" when in actuality they are. Just look at the draft history of the rick smith regime overall...I am not gauging superstars but just the actual players who are currently making an "impact" on nfl teams in said draft history and it is bad, very bad. When the best draft this team has EVER had was still under a Charlie casserly regime, there is a problem and that problem is the owner. I like the big bob as a guy, at least from a public perspective, but his choice in leadership has been questionable to say the least. I don't need a Super Bowl, but heck, this is literally the second worst "expansion team" in the history of football. I also know hind sight is 20 20, but to be optimistic about this franchise at any point for a super ow was always laughable...when they have had a 12 year history of being unable to even compete with top end teams consistently...not just one year, but consistently.

The success rate for any head coach isn't that great. There are winners (few and far between) and losers, and most are losers; however, if harbaugh (who is a proven winner at all levels) is available and I were the owner (which clearly I am not) I would jump on that in two seconds...harbaugh is not why he will leave sf, it's the yorks.

Harbaugh did take over a complete team though. And San Francisco actually kept their DC when Harbaugh took over. Same with Gus Bradley in Seattle when Pete took over. No guarantee that Harbaugh would have the same success here that he had there. Harbaugh mainly just had to concentrate on the quarterback. The defensive line and offensive line was already in place. The Texans have A LOT more holes.
